Seagull OWNED!

My dad found this while looking around the internet for photography tips and tricks. It is a series of photos of a falcon that has taken down a seagull and is proceeding to pick it apart. After some time, for whatever reason, the falcon is spooked and flies away, leaving his prey chewed, but NOT DEAD. Check this out, the neck is gone except for is esophagus, this is unbelievable!

Couldn't have been alive for much longer, but what could have been going through his head at that moment??

 
how is it supporting it's head!?!?!?! all the muscles around his neck bone / vertabrae and esophagus are gone!
 
wow i guess birds feathers make them look alot bigger than their bodies actually are, he might have survived
 
on that site ( not really helpful cause its in some wierd language) the pics show like some falcon pwning the shit outta it, just easting the neck then leaving.
 
Yes! you beat me to it! seagulls don't have anyway of releasing gas from their stomachs (they can't burp) so if you feed them alka-seltzer their stomach will explode from all the pressure.
 
haha on the site it says vandrefalk versus storm mage for the titles of the pics, are seagulls called storm mages in germany? Fucking storm mages
 
I'm pretty sure this kid is a skilled photographer if I remember correctly so that tells you something...
 
to anyone saying this is fake, it's not.

to anyone asking why, i remember hearing that a lot of a birds digestion actually occurs in its throat, so maybe there is enough tissue to actually be able to hold up its head alone?
 
I watched a demonstration on falconry(hunting with birds) once and this looks to be true to me. Back in the day falcons were only owned by nobility because of the way they feed, they down a bird and start eating the head, this allows the trainer to approach the prey and still be left with a full bird body for cooking.

Peasants were only allowed to use hawks because when they down a bird they start by eating the body, this causes the prey to be more mangled and often the bird would have to be cut up and used for stew. For this reason hawks were called POT hawks because their prey were only usable in soups and stews.

Also if peasants were caught with falcons the nobility would take their bird and their hand.
 
ok, so it looks like all of the feathers have been plucked, i dont know if i believe it or not yet, but theres definetly a possibility
 
yeah u can get fucked hardcore if u do that too. there like a protected animal or some shit like that. u can get fined and i think go to prison. not sure on the prison tho.
