SCUBA Diving

So this weekend and next weekend I am going to take some scuba classes and get my open water cert. Never scuba dived before- I am stoked. Hopefully it can be my summer time activity along with wakeboarding.

You guys scuba before or have advicefor me?

yea i just got certified. Its wicked fun and i love it.

just remember all the stuff they told you in your class and it will be awsome

aw ya, i learned down in the keys like 7 years ago, fuckin awesome to do around reefs, especially the deeper you go. FUUN stuff.

i dive and its sick you'll like it, make sure you actually learn how to release the pressure from your ears!! ie poping them..i didnt really learn how to do it right until i was in mexico and then bam!!

diving is so much fun! if you get certified in a pool or do some pool training, try rodeos and corks and such on the bottom, its awesome

It's sick. I got certified last summer, and went to honduras and belize 2 weeks ago and did some diving on the barrier reef there. It's so sick. and once you get your cert. it's internationally recognised, so you can get stuff anywhere

i love to dive, where are you goin? Ive been to a lot of places in the carribean and I could tell you some good spots.

Im goin to St Martin for the first time on spring break to do some diving, anyone know what its like?

way fun i went scuba diving in the black sea in turkey for two days i had a cold or something the second time and my ears wouldnt pop so i couldnt go that deep it sucked

ohhh shit. next weekend im going to bonaire to scuba dive for a week. im padi certified. im bummed about going because i want to go west to ski, but this will be a pretty fun trip i think.

i dont really have any advice except listen to what you teacher says. its not like school, the stuff actually matters(ohhhhhhhh)

^ nice icon.

ya im going to be diving alot around rendondo beach, malibu, the catalina islands, channel islands, santa monica (where i live). but also prolly further up the cali coast as well.

i think for college graduation some friends and i (the ones getting cert with me) are going to go to hawaii)

im gonna be padi certified. eventually i want to get wreck, search and rescue, and high alt. certs too ( i think that diving in tahoe would be so sweet for some reason).

scuba is freakin sweet. i love it so much i work in a dive shop. we do padi certs here. hoping to become an instructor in the near future. it's an expensive sport though, comprable to starting skiing. and it's highly addictive.

exactly i feel like they are really similar, i like to think it will be my summer "skiing", addictive. it will be cheaper to rent the tank and BCD than a lift ticket pretty much anywhere tho ($45).

yes but if you do a two tank boat dive pretty much anywhere it's $60-90 that usually only includes tanks and weights. just like to paying for a full price lift ticket.

buying a bc and a full reg set up in terms of expense is like buying skis, boots, and bindings.

it's so important though to own your own gear. especially a reg. it's lifesaving equipment. you don't want it to fail and you want to know that it's dependable and up to service. most rental gear, just like in skiing, is kind of crappy.

you work at underwater sports? i got certified when i was 12 (5 years ago, wow) sooo amazing. its really trippy, but more $$$ than skiing...so i havent gone since. totally worth it though. heading to cariibean in a few weeks, stoked on that
