Scratch Vs. Teneighty

I am looking to get a new pair of skis i ski mostly just normal runs and the glades should i get the 1080 foils

or a new pair of those old red and white scratches

foils are good for glades, they have a real extreme sidecut so they help you make wuick turns in the trees. also the extra waist width will help you float when it snows

i find the foil gets locked in a carve too easily and isnt great for slidy turns, its plenty stable though

scratches are always solid man. i demoed the foils, in a 166. i foun them to be light, but a little bulky. i didnt lik ethe way they carved. i have scratch pros, which are the same construction as those scratches. i would suggest scratch. much cheaper, wood core, and very very very durrable. a lot of guys have complained about the foils due to some edge problems...... its you choice!!!

I have those scratches, decent weight. They handle really well for switch skiing. Plus they're tanks. I've been riding mine for 2 years now, tough skis

that scratch has a really wierd flex pattern right in front of ther binding as if it was on a hinge..... get the foil .. a way bnetter ski in all aspects

no way go for the scratch FS... they widened them up and they are such a sick ski.... if you are a small person u might have trouble flexing the new scratches they are a little stiffer, while the foils are soft

the problems with the foils edges are they are really thin, and they come out after a good bashing on rails, kinda like the TM's. i demoed them, and the edges didnt look thet thick. i will say the foils carve well, but the scratches arent far behind. concidoring you have race skis, you need a good, solid twin tip. you want durrability, go with the scratch, you cant beat an all wood core, and thick edges and a hard base. the scratches you want have been made 2 years ago, and they are solid. go with a tried and tested scratch. dont chance it with the foils. i have nothing against solomon, but thats my opinion. the scratches will take a beating and look great at the end of the season.

I don't mean to threadjack but i didn't want to start a new thread with the same title.

I am looking at getting either '07 Foils or '07 Scrathes (the ones with the burnt out graphics) because I can get them at trade prices. Which ones are the better ones next year? I know they haven't been demo'd yet but I need to gat my order in soon.

yea iv skied both and i would go for the scratch, they have a wood core so your gona get a longer life out of em, i know that you can argue that point but its true

ihatemyscratches. the weight and flex are ok and they spin fast but other than that they pretty much suck. the flex pattern is a bitch on the shins, the topsheet does not flex enough and cracks after serious buttering and manuals, (mine have core rot cause water got in a crack) the outer bases are soft as shit but i must admit i have no core shots even after skiing in the woods on little-no cover, and rubber (in the tips and tail) is not the kind of material skis should be made of. I hope that helps you but i can't compare them cause i havn't ridden the salomons.

the scratches can carve if you know how to ski. they hold a great edge everywhere except a race course (which i have done before and it was pretty interesting)

FOILs w/o question.

Great all over the mtn, fat tip and tail makes them especially good backcountry/ glades, v light but sturdy.

Also, good for sticking cliffs and kickers if your into that...

what year scratches do u have, ive had the 03/04s and the 05/06s and both of them rocked out. the 05 is a whole new ski and i have noo issues with them at all... all i do is slide rails and i only have a couple egde breaks... Sick Ski. Foils i hevnt skied but i have fingered them and they seemed super soft.

i have last years, the white ones. they spin fast and are sick on rails but where i'm from there arent any rails within a thirty mile radius besides sketchy urban

outta those two id get the foil, but for the same price as foils you can get a pair of 05-06 scratch fs's - they will own

Those are actualyl sprayer FSs

Which are not as good, If you do alot of pow and backcountry, get a scratch BC or sprayer BC. If not get the 1080 foil, anyone i know who rides them, loves them
