Scratch Steeze

Go to Jackson or Alta and count all the girls riding Pro Riders and Squads that are kicking your ass, then come back and say that. Also, how many scrawny 130 pound kids on this site have wide skis?

go die!, i said most dumbass, and if i didn't thats what i ment,

the steeze is competing with the pontoon. now tell me how many girls let alone guys riding them.

those skis are built for people for over 170 and the are 180-190cm in length.

the bc is a powder ski too. your just anidiot and jump to conclusions.STFU

i demoed the steeze at the end of last year, theyre so nice. you can float through anything (i had em out on a cement day)

im getting em soon and mounting em core center with the scratch binding. theyre gonna dominate.

I have a theory. Apparently the Steeze is arguably the best freeride twin Rossi has ever made and maybe the best 110+ ski anyone's ever made... I haven't ridden them, and I'm no Rossi enthusiast, but that's the hype I've been hearing. My theory, therefore, is that Rossi is conducting a social experiment: give your amazing new ski the most retarded name you can think of (Steeze? What the fuck?) and make it look completely ridiculous so that no trend-happy kid will buy it for its looks, and see how it sells just by virtue of performance. The results will reveal a great deal about what skiing has become.

I rode them in March.

All I have to say is that they're fucking amazing. No comparison to any other fat ski that I've ridden. Great sidecut for turns on groomers, still stiff enough to charge, and it's not super heavy, but still has some weight to it. If I didn't have a strict budget I would buy these in a second.

While I understand your point, no way in hell would i buy a ski that has a stupid lame ass graphic no matter how good the ski is. I spend alot of time looking at my skis (skiing, chairlift rides etc) and its cool to have some badass designs to stare at as well as how they look on camera. Call me a trendy nerd if you must, but I just like to have cool/unique art on my skis

Not a trendy nerd, but pretty pathetic nonetheless. If it's that big a deal to you, paint them. But performance comes first.

not like you cant have both,

but its hard to have something unique on your skis if they mass produce the graphics. and plus, snow sticks to it most of the time anyways... so who cares?

A lot of Rossis graphics suck, and they have for a while. No big deal, rossi makes a great performing skis, and they have sick durability. The scratch series has always been super poppy and fun, if the new 110 waist steeze has any of that poppiness and playfulness they will own.

Please tell me you're kidding, the Steeze is nothing like the Pontoon, not even close...this was quite possibly the most ignorant statement ever made on NS...

I rode them last year....they were sick...Im a "srawny 130 pounder" as someone said earlier, but was riding the 184s???not sure if that was the size..somewhere around there and I was able to handle them very well. I didnt have the best snow conditions for them but none the less, a sick ski.

yep.

Pontoons are all about powder, the steeze is competing with the "BC freestyle skis" such as JP vs Julien and the Atomic Thug. It owns all.

while it is true that the graphics have nothing to do with how a ski performs... for me to put up 500-700 dollars for a pair of boards i have to look at them and feel like I bought something worth while.. and while they may be an amazing ski to ride... to justify the money they have to be a complete package. I have to enjoy skiing on them as well as enjoy looking at them.

To the idea that this was an experiment to judge where skiing as been by giving a sick ski ridiculous graphics and a stupid name... Its an interesting thought... but just not commercially viable today. A ski company cannot launch a new product with intentions like that because of the huge risk of a flop. Investors wouldn't deal with that...and rossignol being a publicly traded company has to keep its investors happy. If the ski is not a commercial success no matter how sick of a ski it is... they cannot continue to take a hit on it. More than likely what happend is someone in the rossignol team acctually things that this ski looks good and that there is a market for it. Judging by the response in this thread... its pretty mixed.

Personally... im a huge rossignol fan... ive had several pairs of scratches... they are amazing skis... and if i was in the market for this kind of ski... i would be hoping that they sell enough of them to bring it back next year with a different topsheet.

Rossignol is owned by quicksilver, easily one of the largest companies out there... they can afford to loose a couple G's and be able to throw down a crazy europop graphic if they want. I think it looks rather.. strange.. yes, but see how much I give a shit? I'm going to be skiing POWDER with these chundersticks right? 110 waist? yeah...

and what happens on powderdays? oh yes... powder covers the graphics...

I dont think I'd worry too much, for I'd be having waaaay too much fun out there.

Still.. I'm going to wait till next season.. (when I actually have some money) and see if they bust out the stz with some different graphics... They will probably still be wild, but more likely than not, they will not be THIS wild.
