Lol that graph only needs two events on it... 'Vaccine rates increase, allowing people to go back to work and go back into public - driving up demand for fuel' and 'Russia invades Ukraine' which is by far the biggest factor here (as shown on this graph, mind you). If that didnt happen, Gas prices in the USA would not be this high. This is a supply and demand issue. And there's a lot of demand and not enough supply. Oil companies are taking advantage of that to drive profits.

It also fails to mention dozens of US refineries using the covid period and low demand to shut down and make necessary conversions. It's filled with a bunch of nonsense that doesn't affect fuel prices.

The Keystone XL pipeline being on there cracks me up. exactly zero of that oil that would have gone through that pipeline would have been for domestic use. It would have been merely for exporting Canada's oil from Alberta through US ports in the Gulf - and the capacity of current pipelines was more than enough for that oil - the refining capacity, however, is simply not enough as things stand.

Biden didn't do shit. He's barely done anything. He's boring, he's milk-toast, and he's way too cautious to do anything drastic like rais your gas prices or cause inflation.

Cost of gas was $2.50 pre-covid. Why hasn't it returned to anywhere close that number now that the pandemic is over? Because of the war? Sure a little bit of that. But you better believe Biden's stance against fossil fuels impacts the price. The refineries are also aggressively covering their losses from 2020-2021 because they see this nation is forcing people off of gas. If there's any entity that the finger should be pointed at, it's Sleepy Joe's and Killer Kam's administration.

The pandemic has been 'over' for what... half a year now at the absolute most optimistic estimates? In much of the world - including the oil-producing world, vaccines were not readily available until this spring... some still haven't really received them and production is by no means back to its pre-covid levels whatsoever... all while demand has rebounded almost back to the same levels as pre-covid, and supply chains haven't even fully caught up with everything. Welcome to supply and demand capitalist economics, buddy. If you don't like it, join the communists.

Throw in sanctions on Russia due to the war (which we should all agree need to happen because fuck Putin), and yeah, no shit prices are going to be WAY higher than they were in 2019

Haha same here, weird how im one of two in my family, work, and friend group without getting vaxxed, and we're the only ones who havent gotten it, or at least never were effected enough to realize it. And I was by far the least careful. while they were all fucked up and bed ridden, some multiple times.

I’m pro-choice, but using the 14th amendment to establish that abortion is a constitutional right is a bit of a stretch. If you are unsure of what Roe v Wade says, that was the ruling. Roe v Wade getting overturned was eventually bound to happen. If you put your bias and opinion aside and look at it from a purely legal point of view, the overturn makes sense.

Something I noticed that a lot of people don’t seem to get; the SCOTUS’s job isn’t to make laws as they please. Their job is to interpret the law as written from a legal perspective. They are supposed to be apolitical; however, obviously, they are humans with opinions and biases, so it’s not a perfect system.

If we really want abortion to be a constitutional right, we need congress to pass legislation making it so. They have had 50 years to do just that, and it hasn’t happened. We really shouldn’t be trying to stretch amendments and ambiguous wording in the constitution to fit our political goals.

SCOTUS' job is to interpret the law as they please. The reality is that SCOTUS is not apolitical, nor impartial, it's very biased, and just another political tool leveraged to push an agenda. If you think otherwise, you're just naive. Almost all of the important rulings are party-line votes, that's just a fact.

Virtually all cases on the docket have 2 strong opposing arguments (wouldn't make it to SCOTUS otherwise), and so they can justifiably rule pretty much either way, it's up to their personal interpretation of the spirit of the law, so it really all comes down to the majority bias on the court (religious, political, personal).

Roe wasn't that much of a stretch, plenty of similar rulings for a bunch of other rights, none of which are actually mentioned in the constitution. With terms as loosely defined as 'liberty', it's just a matter of who you ask what should or should not be protected by the constitution, and SCOTUS will keep overturning itself and changing its mind depending on which way the wind is blowing.
