Scott Punisher and Scott P4

Riding out in Montana this week at Big Mtn and decided to demo some skis because my pipecleaners weren't really cutting it. So I picked up some Scott Punishers today and they blew my mind, they skied pow better than anything I have ridden (not saying a whole lot, I'm from Minnesota). But they were just an awesome ski all around, I did a lot of off-piste bc stuff skiing glades and sick steep trees and pow. I'm not the best pow skier (seeing as how we don't get a whole lot in good ole MN) but I was ripping it pretty well. I took them off some jumps and small cliffs, threw some spins and they were just awesome. 89 mm underfoot and they handle awesome anywhere you take them. I think i just found my next pair of skis.

Tomorrow I'm riding some Scott P4's (105 mm underfoot I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) and they are the fattest ski I will have ridden. Switched to those for tomorrow cause were getting dumped on tonight and I wanted to stick with Scotts because I really liked the Punishers. The P4's are so sick I am sitting here staring at them, but I fell in love with the Punishers today.

What does NS think about Scott skis in general? and more specifically these two skis. I am really impressed by Scott skis and think they have done a great job.

Sparknotes: Demoed some Scott Punishers today in some sick pow and loved them, my next set of skis. Riding some Scott P4s tomorrow and I am very excited to see how they do in the shit ton of snow were getting tonight. What do you think of Scott skis??

I myself ski the P4 and its wonderfull, it does everything you want from it, in powder it skis like a dream if you think the punisher is a pow ski, just wait for the p4, no worries for tipdive + incredible control in the deep.

on groomers the p4 is a real toy ski, it butters nice but can hold a fair edge on ice, carving is a bit hard, either because of the large sidecut, or the double sidecut, i dont know, but maybe this is because i compare the carving with a fischer WC series... :D

but youll probably experience all that when you try em yourself...

further, i hear nothing but good from the p4, its an extremely durable ski and its titanium mesh makes it virtually unbreakable while its wood core keeps it poppy, as far as i know/believe, scott is a fairly unknown brand that makes excellent skis that perform above average and that are incredible durable.... +i think last years p4 looked awesome, with the surf-design and stuf, this years looks more like a pin-ball wich is cool as well :D

+check out their new ski, the stunt, thats some crazy design!

(chipping of the topsheet is not a designfailure, its like a protection for the core, if it wouldnt chip, it would tear or break/crack and tht would be fatal for the ski, so the chipping is completely normal, not that these skis get damaged more than other skis, its just that if the get dammaged they will chip instead of tear or break...)

i cannot speak for the specific skis mentioned, but i own Scott P3.. and i have to say i am quite impressed,

i ski hard and these skis take it all in, the topsheet is very resistant to chipping and the skis are so poppy and solid, the rip shit up outside the park for sure

When buying these i almost got the punisher because i am not in the park that often but i couldnt pass up the deal i got on the P3s

if the P4 and punisher are anything like the P3 i think you will be very happy, IMO Scott skis are very underrated, people at my mountain didnt know scott even made skis, good luck

Follow up:

Rode the P4s all day today in more than a foot of new heavy-ish snow and they did awesome as well. So much float it was incredible, the Punisher was nothing compared to this in deeper snow. Skied some steep stuff with and without trees and it was like heaven i swear. I love the pop and feel of them even on packed out snow and groomers. The P4s are a big ski, I was on 181s today and I could still spin off stuff and throw them around like my Pipecleaners. As for durability both the Punisher and the P4 help up great and I like to think I skied them pretty hard. My conclusion is that Scott skis are sick and I am convincing my boss to start selling them. Gonna have to check out their whole line of skis and decide which ones I'm gonna get for my next set :)

i'll sell you my p4s in a 181 with some fischer x -17 binders for 300. they are the ones from 2 seasons ago, and they are in pretty mint shape. a little worn in, but i think you'll like them lots. lemme know.

ADDITION:

What about taking the Punisher on rails...? I'm not sure if I would want to, do you think they would hold up well or are they bases/edges not meant for rails? I want to get a pair of either the P3s or the Punishers, I just love how the Punishers ski so much plus they have badass graphics. Rails on the Punishers?

i see some people in the Jibij team updates rockin the punishers on rails, PM Joshbryant or someone and inquire

dude i've rocked every scott ski on the market except the stunts... don't take them on rails. they just don't hold up. the p4's honestly do the best on rails, and i never trusted my punishers or my p3s on rails.

you're reviews got me so stoked.

good to hear about someone having a blast and just killing it with out be claim-y.

havent ridden the p3 or punisher, but the p4 does pretty good on rails, they feel very stable, probably bcuz its 108 underfoot....

I dont know about this years model but the model i own, (i think its the 2006-07 model, with the ugly stripes), came with a pair of superfat matching design skipoles with leather leash and a nice fat powderbasket, these poles are quality! theyre fat and made of high grade aluminum, you can clearly hear a difference in the material of other skipoles, by tapping the poles...

I am not a small kid by any means at 6'0 190 and I hit rails on my punishers all the time..Hold up just like all other skis on rails...
