Scott Mounting Point

So ive finally decided on getting the scott punishers in a 182. They look to be a good allround ski but im unsure as where to mount them. I will be doing pretty much everything on them so...Ive also got some chronics which are a bit battered but still rock in the park. However, ive only got enough money to have one pair of bindings so it would be a hastle to keep changing the bindings but if im was going to spend a whole day in the park i would mind swapping the bindings but for just crusing, powder and a little session in the park what would you guys think?? the return button on by comp is also being gay so sorry its in one massive paragraph!!

nice choice on the punishers. got a chance to demo them in the spring. They are pretty sick. I'd mount them -3cm back from centre. Don't try and swap bindings between skis though, it wont work and is pretty dangerous.

i was also wondering about mounting scotts, but the p3's instead of the punishers. another thing, how do scott skis hold up to abuse??

Just be careful, my guess when he says 3cm back from center, he means core center (from contact points) and not the mounting point. I have mounted them at the mounting point which gives you a ripping all-mountain stick. If you are going to be running them for park/pipe, i would mount them further forward, somewhere in the +2cm to +4cm range from mounting point. I have mounted at +4cm and the ski still rips, just might not be the best if you were trying to ski mostly pow.

I had a pair of scott p3's and had them mounted at +2cm ahead of recomended (178cm) and they ripped all over the mountain really really well, carved better than any other twin I have ridden. Then I decided to move them to dead centre which was probably another 2 or 3 cm further forward again, great for park but really lacked eleswhere, I think +2cm is great for everything unless it is 100% park you are doing. I had around 60 days on them and they held up well, slanted sandwich construction means very durable.

so this goes for both of you... I've got a pair of punishers on the way, and I've ridden p3's for a few years. I like to ski on my skis, and the p3 actually skis well. I mounted mine recommended. In retrospect i would have maybe mounted them a cm or two more fore ward, but recommended feels great, and they actually ski. The mounting line is 7 cm's back from dead center, and i probly would go +5 next time. As for the punishers, I'm going to mount them right at the bottom of the scott logo at the center of the ski. This also equates to about 5 cm back. I skied the missions a few times last year, and they just handle so well, i'm just stoked to ski on them, plus they'll be close enough to center that they'll ski switch really well too. In terms of versatility, they should be unrivaled, plus, a good stiff ski with some good side cut makes an awesome ski when i don't feel like being in the park, because i'd much rather be in the trees, or riding powder. Go with the punishers for sure, you won't regret it, the shop i work at, every single employee rides scott skis, because they are the best bang for the buck, and they handle amazing.

I mounted my Scott P3's (178) +3 from recommended.

They ski great in the park and are very well balanced.

They ski ok out of the park, (east coast groomed/ice) better than most twins I have ridden, only complaint is if you're really cranking out some turns, they will wash out if you pressure them too much. (probably from being mounted forward)

If I were to re-do it, I would probably mount right at recommended, only because I use them for all mountain skiing too...

As for durability, they're solid,
