Science vs Religion Statement I Want to Make

but technically he was in the future. yeah it is really nothing, but he did go through time very slightly. and they werent even trying to have him go through time. if they actually set out and designed a specific space ship to go much much faster, by like orbiting some planet or something, and for a longer period of time, they could get a much more significant amount of time. like say they went 5 times faster and stayed in the ship for 50 years instead of a month? im not gonna even try to do the math, but it would be a very significant amount of time. and since there isnt drag in space, its possible to go insanely fast. in the show i was watching, they were saying to go the speed of light or near it, the technology needed to do it wouldnt be that crazy, we dont have the technology now, but in like hundreds of years mabye. the biggest problem would be getting the energy. there isnt enough energy on our whole planet to power something like that. one theory was to use a black hole if somehow they could find one. but it would involve using gigantic metal rods that would gather energy, i forget how they said to do it but it actually made sense, black holes can drag entire planets into them, so they have alot of energy.
then there is the theory of worm holes that would carry you at the speed of light, and theories about actually traveling through a black hole.
traveling back in time really doesnt make sense to me, but going forward in time isnt crazy, id bet in like 1000 years we will mabye have technology to travel years and years into the future.

I forgot this thread was here and posted this in the other science vs religon thread. seeing as there is a larger discussion going on here Ill re-post it here

I go to a Catholic school so I have to take religon and our teacher is

really chill. She is a former hippie and is open to anything. Shes

smoked joints, tripped on acid and regrets none of it. We constantly

get awesome stories about woodstock and shit. Anywho we were talking

about moses and shit and how everything he did to the Pharaoh to scare

him the Pharaoh's magicians could also. This in turn brought up the

fact that if magicians before Jesus could do this stuff whos to say

that Jesus wasnt just a really good illusionist?

wow... That is garbage because its a myth. It wasnt meant for people to read and believe every word of it. It is a creation story intended to show a religious truth, that God created the earth.

science's theory: there was nothing and due to physical laws and probability eventually something was there. further study is needed.

Religions answer: well that is completely proposterous that theory is completely ludacris. at first there was nothing and this man decided to make everything, so he did and here we are. no study is needed because o a book written thousands of years ago explains everything

aka its not even worth my time to argue because your brainwashed from birth(baptized)...have fun not thinking for yourself

Well to a non religious person like me thinking that some mystical creature called "God" whos presence can't be proven magically created the universe and life is the biggest load of crap I ever heard. Science can prove things. Religion cannot. That's why I like to stick to science.

basic "scientific" reasoning has been used by humans for much longer than the biblical creationism theory was stated. so i too will continue "believing in science" (really butchering some terms here) until "religion: (once again butchering terms) comes up with reasonable proof and blah blah blah.

all in all I'd say that too little thought was put into the creation of this thread, science is not all about disproving the creationism theory and religion isn't all about only believing in the creationism theory. very much of both very seperate practices are being left out in your statement

that theory doesnt work out. E=Mc2 means that pure energy (waves as opposed to particles) is interchangeable with matter(particles) at a consistant rate, wich is the speed of light, meaning that if something were to be able to reach the speed of light (pretty much impossible), it would convert into raw energy. once that stage has happened, you cant slow it down by any means because it wouldnt interact with anything (seeing as its energy)

BUT, back to the point of religion vs science, the way i see it is that you dont see a theory that impresses you for how to world started, so you turn to some stuff that was thought up (and is still unproven) from like 200 BC? how is that logical? thats like saying "noone has explained the beginning of time to me, so ill trust something that someone thought up 2000 years ago, with no solid evidence proving it right"

I love how every person in this thread that believes in the science side of things makes the religion side of things look retarded. and dont go saying that its because it is retarded, becasue you guys are all making it looks really stupid

I know, when I tell people that I'm not afraid to die cause I know when I die that I will be able to have buttsecks on fluffy clouds with Jesus for eternity, they get all pissy and tell me about how science doesn't acknowledge that as very likely. What assholes.

I also do not like that they tell me there isn't life after death, cause my life sucks, I am my boss's bitch, and I have been married to the same whore for 25 years, and I couldn't wait till we died so that Jesus could tighten up her loose ass snatch for me and make everything better. God forbid I have to try and work my life out within my own lifetime.
