Schweitzer needs a real park

AS much as I hate schweitzer, I think that they maybe could have a chance of bringing in some people if the park crew would get off their lazy asses and make some real jumps. You know, ones that have a lip and more than a 10 foot gap. Poorboyz did it, is it that hard for the rednecks to get off their asses and build stuff?
 
Yeah that is what is wrong with like Schweitzer and Tamarack. Both have good parks but the jumps are small like Tamarack's takeoffs are only 4ish feet tall I wouldn't know about Sweitzer since i haven't been there but on their websites the takeoffs look pretty big but there jumps are like only 60 ft. same with Tamarack though Tamarack doesn't really have room to build bigger jumps.

It seems like every couple of months you spew your same little hate speech cause you know you can sit at your little computer and never have to back shit up. I agree with the technicalities of what he says, but I don't agree with using ad hominems to talk a bunch of crap and not back up his argument. It's simple economics...the ski resort is going to cater to the crowd that will result in the most money...and at the moment the freeskier community is not their first priority. Discussions should be had, but there is no use complaining and throwing names around.
 
yeah, thats nice. I would hang myself before I ever returned to ski at schweitzer again. 3 days up there was way too much. I honestly feel sorry for you all that live up there. Get out while you still can
 
schweitzer is trying to be something that they are not, for lack of better terms. It is not a destination resort. They have a large crowd of freeskiers, but except for the poorboyz filming up there they are all locals, so all of their efforts are worthless
 
Good point, and well made. I guess I would agree with the "laziness" aspect then. That seems to be a problem with a few of Idaho's resorts currently, which is that they seem to have a "meh" kind of attitude toward progression or changing their aspect a bit. They have decent snow and good potential, they just never "get around" to doing anything with it. So basically I just said what Ted said.
 
i dont know why you guys hate so much. aren't there bigger things to worry about? if you dont like it then move on. get over yourself. Schweitzer is a kick ass resort, they are making improvements that will make for a better experience. Yeah they are making a lot of improvements to try and become a destination resort for families, with that, it might include improvements in the park. PBP has the insurance to set up jumps and jibs like they did in Yeah Dude. They did the same thing at Shasta two years ago. If there were jumps like the ones in the movies we wouldn't have any jumps (like the RCR resorts).
 
Hey ted i hope you never come back to schweitzer, cuz if i did see you there i would rip off your pussy snow blades and slam em down your huge ass mouth! Schweitzer one of the best mountains in the northwest. The progression there is sick and the park crew knows how to make shit sick as hell. fuck you gaper!!
 
Here is the deal. Schweitzer does a pretty damn good job with what they have, they don’t have the massive amount of resources and money that the Colorado resorts have so they cant make snow whenever they need and they only have one or maybe two park piston bullies. Having skiied there for years I know first hand the park has progressed alot even if the crew can be a lazy bunch of stoners sometimes. Besides, with all the natural features in the back bowls its almost like a natural park. Schweitzer is a chill-ass place and for alot of people its all we have so Ill be damned if I let some asshole talk shit about it all the time.
 
oh yeah, the park is great. Didnt you see that so called 30 footer last year, the lip was part of the landing, it was all one mound. huge. The progression man, i saw a cold of 9's and a lot of rich ass gangstered out kids that couldnt do shit
 
I disagree, the few times that i've been there, everything that they've had was built or maintained very poorly. I'm not sure if they just don't know how to do it right, or if they just don't care. Either way, not my problem.

As for Ted talking shit, I really don't know how you think you can stop him.
 
This is how it should go down....WHY THE FUCK DO YOU WANT A PARK SO BAD!?!?!?! idaho has the sickest natural terrain around....if you want to ski park, move to utah or colorado and go be a park bitch...its as simple as that...get over the park scene everyone! especially if you live in idaho.... parks are for little kiddies to learn the basics and for kids who dont have a clue on how to ride real terrain....

yep, but just on the idaho park scene...no one from idaho knows shit on building a real damn good park...we just throw mounds of snow somewhere and put a lip infront of it...once theres a real park somewhere in idaho and all the powder goes away, then i'll stop hating on idahos park scene
 
Well put. Id have to say that Schweitzer has more cliffs and drops than almost all the CO resorts. Except maybe Mary Jane but that mountain is a fucking legend if you know were to go. (Mushroom patch anyone?)
 
oh yeah man, the backcountry at schweitzer is hands dwn way greater than anywhere in colorado. The snow is way better too. I mean colorado, utah, and wyoming all suck dick for skiing...not, Why dont you pull your head out of your ass and go do some real skiing at a real resort
 
So the 10' powder day at Vail I hit up last Sunday doesn’t count? Or maybe the trip to Whistler I have planned in a few weeks is what your talking about. Yeah the snow is lighter and better in CO, there is more terrain, people, talent and money there too. Schweitzer is not a world class resort like Vail or Aspen etc. I have no disillusions that it is. In fact, many of the owners are pricks and care more about the logging operations they have there than probably anything else, I know Ive had to work with them. What im saying is that Ive skied alot of different places and Schweitzer is my home mtn and for alot of my best friends that dont have the opportunity to go to school in Colorado its all they have. Its a good mountain with lots of varied and relatively steep terrain, alot of it steeper than much of CO. Besides, the park is better than most anything else in the area. I don’t know if Tedlangty is some anti Schweitzer alias you have or your really into committing yourself to hating out mtn but either way its getting pretty old.

one thing that i love about idaho resorts...well most of em, they dont have shit tons of people to track out all the powder before lunch....any storm and i'll have powder for weeks on end...and that sure beats any park any day....
 
schweitzer does not have more steeps and cliffs than most places in colorado. Also, not all the resorts are huge destination resorts down there that have tons of money. I am no alias. I just see that schweitzer has so much more potential that is being thrown out. Steps are being taken to expand and improve schweitzer to make it a destiantion resort, but it is being done in the wrong way.
 
Someone needs to back Ted up because he is somewhat in the right I think. I love Schweitzer but I think they could do a little more. Terrain parks are nice because they take up one run, a cat or two, and like 4 dedicated underpaid people to maintain them. There is definitely a demographic for an in-depth terrain park, and they don't seem interested in putting forth the effort. Surely there is a reason, but I don't think arguing whether CO or Schweitzer has the better terrain is appropriate. If you like powder and steeps cool; but don't get mad when someone is frustrated with the lack of progression in the park. It's all opinion anyway. Just let there be a casual discussion, and ski.

Have you ever even seen the backcountry scene around here? in Valley county alone theres more snowmobile trails than all of Utah. so that means theres way more terrain...but i'm guessing you dont even care about real terrain, you just ski park?... theres so much terrain out here that is just like Whistlers bc but theres no one...and so many film crews have been heading up here the past few years,now that the word has gotten out...i'll bet money that youve seen some idaho riding in movies and you dont even know it cause you think its whistler...so dont knock on idaho cause i know you dont know shit about it
 
For one, snowmobile trails do not equal the amount of ski-able terrain. The average vertical drop for Valley county, as close as I can figure, is just over 2,500 feet. Sounds impressive...until you look at the Whistler Peak alone, which has 5280 feet...in just the actual resort. Hop over to Girabaldi and wow...we just jumped over 6000 vertical feet of bc terrain. In no way shape or form can you make up for that much more vertical. Sure there are more options in Valley County or Idaho. But there is NOT more terrain. Not even close. It's mostly glades anyway. So the options are not as good as chutes or faces.
 
Have you ever been to lick creek summit...i bet not...ever been to the wilderness of no return...i bet not...it goes on on and on on how much terrain is around here...theres millions upon millions of places to build.....wait, yea idaho sucks! dont come ride here....theres no snow....so talk all the shit you want on idaho cause it really sucks balls
 
I'm not trying to beak Idaho. I live here. I love it. But I just don't think saying it is completely equal to legendary places like Whistler, and that CO and UT don't have as much ski-able terrain is fair. I'm all for backing our state up, but I don't think that stuff is true. And we fly in and ski the no-return wilderness and the seven devils about once a month, so I have been out there. And I've been to Jackson Hole bc and for not being that far away, I have found better lines there than in Idaho. I know Idaho has tons of options, but not the most.
 
with more snowmobile trails=more accesible terrain...i guess i'm just saying theres a lot of really good stuff to ride around here but theres no one...so its way more backcountry style....you can go on for miles and miles of untracked mountains...and usally anyone thats out there is a red neck snowmoblie hick so they dont give a shiot about anything...except for the hill they're racing up...
 
Yeah I agree, its getting old battling over how great or lame a mountian is. lol we should be focusing our attention on hating gapers and people that dont use poles anyway...

I like how this thread has nothing to do with Schweitzer anymore. Are you kidding me? If you spent half as much time skiing as you do being little kids and calling each other names, you would be pro by now. Threads like these make me fear for mankind...get over yourselves! Kinda goes back to what our Mommy's taught us..."if you don't have anything nice to say, THEN SHUT THE HELL UP!" Or something like that.

Dude its this great thing called internet hate. Its kinda like road rage in that you can piss the fuck out of people and they usually cant do anything about it except maybe get butt hurt or something. Its usually a way for little jr high kids who get picked on at school to talk shit and not get the living fuck beat out of them. For example Tedlangty and I have been arguing over Schweitzer for the better part of probably a year now. In real life we would probably argue and maybe even get into a fight I dont know. But in the internet world we can simply type messeges about how ignorant and fucking stupid each of us is and it goes around and around. Its really a beautiful system that nature designed in which all things flow into itself.
 
So I either assume you are a little junior high kid who gets picked on (possibly rightfully so), or you just condone being a dick with no balls...kinda like kids who yell crap from chairlifts, just because they don't have to be responsible for it. I think I am going to start skiing with a gun.

Aight i'm not going to get all involved in this gay internet battle. Ted if you don't like Schweitzer then thats alright for you, just don't ski up here, More pow and hits for the locals. I know Schweitzer doesn't have a really good park scene, but its starting to get better. So if you don't like Schweitzer just don't ride up here and keep it to yourself. And i bet you'd like Schweitzer a lot more if you knew all the stashes.

yeah but the jib jam was all stuff that no one who actually skis at schweitzer was able to hit, i just hope people don't see the videos with schweitzer in it and get the wrong idea about the park not that its bad but it is not whats on poor boyz movies.
