School Shooting in Ohio

funny thing is, the news was on yesterday and i was sort of half listening to it watching a edit, and all I heard was "school shooting........at least one dead......police have identified shooter as TJ Lane" I was the WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? Turned around to find it wasnt the TJ I knew, and sighed in relief

I'd probably do the same, doesn't sound like the most common name.

Either way, I hope this once again opens up serious discussions about bullying and what it can easily lead to.

Might not be the most appropriate reaction, but if it was known that he was bullied (to what extent?) and this was his retaliation, it's not hard to see where the praisers are coming from... although skewed a bit on the morbid side.

Because people arn't so fucking obtuse, they realize the killings were provoked. Most people who catch a bullet have it coming, at least in the mind of the shooter.

provoked? some people are just pathetic and cant handle the difficulties of life

weak people do things like this to become powerful, even for just a few seconds.

now to add insult to injury the parents of the dead kids are going to pay to keep this kid alive in prison. he should be shot in the stomach and left to die

i like to think of these people of psychopaths. in the meaning (idk if thats the scientific definition) that they are not viewing the world "normally" and have obviously skewed definitions of right/wrong, because otherwise youre not doing something like that.

so if this kid trains now and makes a youtube video in which he beats the shit of his bullies, most people would applaude. obviously he crossed the line, but the problem is that violent revenge (also on this site) is seen as "cool", "manly" and whatnot.

and your last part is wrong on many levels. i understand the emotion of it, but thats not how a legal system should work and luckily it doesnt. that kid will get it rough in jail anyways.

"provoked? some people are just pathetic and cant handle the difficulties of life"

Yes that is true, some people can't cope with society and just snap. But in this instance the shooter was after specific targets, probably for the difficulties they caused in his life, which he was too pathetic to cope with.

"weak people do things like this to become powerful, even for just a few seconds."

are you talking about the bullies? because it sounds like you're talking about the bullies...

"now to add insult to injury the parents of the dead kids are going to pay to keep this kid alive in prison"

Could have been a lot worse, their kids could have been partially responsible for innocent people dying. Raise a bully and he might not come home from school, whether or not it's right, moral or legal it's what happens these days. It's a sad situation all around, but hopefully by keeping this kid alive they can gain some insight and help prevent future tragedies.

kind of agree with that. there is no excuse for the kid to do stuff like that (although its questionable he was in something even remotely similar to a clear mind). but if its really only the bullies (which kind of seems like it is the case) which made him do that, they did something wrong too. after like a bazillion previous school shootings which nearly always were carried out by calm, "weird" outsiders not unlike those which are treated like shit by them.

just a shithole of situation all around, tough to prevent, but respect of other people, whether they are rich, poor, doing drugs or whatever can prevent a lot. some people (also on here) need to understand and respect other people more.

i agree. but you could see it from the other side and ask if those people suffered more causing them to have that thought of a school shooting yet alone carry it out?

maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle

stuff like that never happens in a bad town. its just a kid that snaps for some reason or another

no one should defend him, shooting kids at point blank, while they are siting a school cannot be justified.

I really tired of everyone in the world having the everyones a winner and everything should always go your way. There is absolutely no fucking reason to shoot someone for bullying. It's not worth. People need to be raised to stand up for themselves, nothing of this extent would have happened if the kid just threw a few punches. People need to realize life is not fair, and if someones bullying you to that extent beat the living fuck out of them.

God, I hate bullies though, shit is the worst, no one fucks with me now but in middle school people did but I got in a bunch of fights, I guess the fights for me is like the shooting for the one kid, he took it way to far.

To my knowledge, TJ was not bullied. He didn't even go to Chardon this year. He was bused to a different school in the morning. But all the victims were not the bully-type. They were all nice kids who didn't deserve this.

From Tj's lawyer said it was 100% random and he wasn't targeting anyone. Who knows what was going through thats kids mind...

This really baffles me when I read about that I was expecting to see some sort of motive. This is a very strange thing. This kid will not go to a regular prison, instead we will pay for him to live in a mental institution for the rest of his life.

Me too. im refraining from posting the "some people just want to watch the world burn" meme out of seriousness of this topic, but that is how i feel about this kid.

So sad, vibes.

My dad told me this: The kids TJ shot were his friends from around elementary to middle school who had seperated themselves from him, not ostricizing though. It was just a matter of interests and relationships changing, it happens to everyone. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and one of the victims started dating TJ's ex and here we are now. I didn't personally read this but I believe my dad either read it or heard it somewhere, cant speak to the source though.

Here's an article on the beast the beast that chased him out of the school:http://news.yahoo.com/coach-chased-ohio-shooter-doesnt-feel-hero-031919664.html

Damn, School shootings are so sad. The fact that anyone feels the need to fire shots at young students, bullies or not, is pretty frightening. Sure, bullying can really ruin someones life, but people need to realize that other people should not be the deciding factor of happiness in your life. But jesus every time one of these shootings occurs, it makes me want to apologize to everyone I've ever even mildly teased. Killing is some wack shit.

Yeah, it's sad that someone could have driven someone normal to do such a thing, people can be horrible creatures the bullies and the shooters.

i'm currently reading a book about collumbine. if everything had hone to plan, the kids would have killed nearly 2000 people. but remember, there is always a trigger or events that made the shooter snap.

I believe columbine was mainly a result of video game violence. This is so sad, I hate news when kids get shot from school shootings.

actually, you wouldnt. each of the kids hept journals and video game violence had nothing to do it. that myth came because they liked to play doom. but so did every other teenage boy of that era.Dylan Klebold was a suicidal shy boy who just wanted to be happy. through out his journal, the things he said started to become more violent with time. Eric Harris, how ever, was a kid who had anger issues. the first entry in his journal was "I fucking hate the world". he also had a website and he often posted about fantasies of the human race going extinct. he had that fantasy for a long time but did not act on it or even think about acting on it until about a year and a half before the shooting. most the things you hear about columbine are myths (like the connection to 4/20, hitlers birthday, and them targetting jocks). and unlike most school shootings, there was no "trigger", they had been planning for this.
