Schizo or not schizo for all-mountain park

HiI'm an advanced skier, I weigh 195 lbs more or less and I'm going to change my skis+bindings.

Since I'm going to ski mainly on piste, but i would like to start to make some jump, some rail and some powder in sidecountry what about bindings?

I was interested in griffon (or jester) schizo ones, in order to be able to change mounting point but I've seen over the internet a lot of bad reviews on how the schizo mechanism get damaged so easily. What do you think? Is it convenient to get schizo bindings, or should I go with "normal" bindings? (Consider that I'm not gonna ride in X-games nor Freeride world tour :D)

Thanks in advance for your help

Bye

If you go Schizo you are limiting yourself to K2 skis only. K2 makes good skis but there are many other great skis out there.

Absolutely not true.. You can mount Schizo's to any ski. I have a pair of Griffon Schizo's on a pair of Nordica's and I'm about to pick up a second pair to mount on my new Volkl Kinks. And to OP, I haven't had any structural issues with them at all. Like you, I ski about 50/50 park/all mountain, and I have a one ski quiver, so to me, these are super convenient because I can set the bindings center when I'm in the park and easily move them back 6cm when I'm skiing pow/sidecountry, or even just ripping groomers.

Schizos make your skis have less of a butter zone. I have schizos on my volkl ledges and they take up so much of the ski and there really is no need for schizo.

They take up an extra 6cm of the ski- literally will make almost no difference. Basically the same as saying a guy with a big boot length wise can't butter- which simply isn't true

The very first versions had a couple issues, which were fixed years ago. They past 4 years have all been solid and the issues were addressed.

Also- for a one ski quiver going from park to all mountain they are awesome, really make a pair of skis a lot more versatile.

if you're lazy they're a waste, im lazy, just put up with riding center mounted skis, but if you commit to actually using them i've herd good things

They are very useful...I only really switch them around when I know I'm either doing mostly park/trees/pow. Don't buy them thinking that you will switch them at the top of the hill when your friends are wanting to hit trees. But I love them. They have lasted me 3 seasons. Of around 20-30ish days....and then another season of just occational use. Really I think the durability issues got blown way out of proportion.

Yep- what they said. Basically good for those days when you hit the freshies in the morning, and then after lunch you move them forward to go ski park because everything got skiied up. Usually some tool benches with a screwdriver that will work are near the huts/lodge too. Or just keep one in your backpack/pocket. Honestly takes 1 minute to change both skis.

non-schirzo are better I have regular Griffions on my JJ's and they do not add that much weight along with letting them still be super buttery.

Don't get schizo. Even if you're skiing all mountain you rarely ever move them back because you're too lazy and it doesn't even bother you much that they're a little forward. They're also heavy af and I wish I had gotten regular griffons. Shitty park binding, for sure. But I do love the offset black and white heel and toe pieces, really dope.
