Scenescapes on NS

Hey Harvey and newschoolers crew-

I think a great idea would to be to have a scenescapes section, where jibbers can write a little bit about where to find urban jibs in cities around where they live. I emailed the idea to Neil at sasfilms.com to make a guide to the jibs of Troy, NY since he lives in that area, but I also thought that others around the world would benefit from knowing where to find double kink rails near their home. A typical scenescape could just include locations of jibs, descriptions, 5-0 faktor, and vibe. What do you guys think? I know that it would definately help the progression of the sport if skeirs knew where to find rails and such.

Hey man, I think it's a wicked good idea too. I know there's been talk before about having a terrain park section, where people update info on local terrain parks- not sure if that's going to get started this winter or not. A scenescapes thing would be a nice addition, but- there's really so little of a scene in most places that it might be a bit pointless, eh? Skateboarders would probably have a lot more to write about than skiers... for example, what would one write? 'Twin Falls, Idaho: A nice triple-kink next to the courthouse'?

ill admit that its hard finding good rails in your town, but if everybody could find one or two nice setups in their town, then it would be beneficial to others in town who might not know about it, or people from nearby towns that might be down for a session. Your dream jib could be 20 minutes away and u might not even know it. Thats the point im tryin to make.

you could create it by area code or town area, or resort area. For instance, take a resort and point out the stuff about its park, and urban stuff outside the resort. You could even expand it to mention cool stuff to do at the resort itself, but that might be pushing the boundaries on uncovering secret stuff ppl want to keep to themselves.. either way, thats off topic but i think that would be a better idea than doing strictly urban because the most you are goign to get out of that is in places where there is a high concentration of skiers.. and tahts usually next to a ski area

Yeah I agree. I know there is no way Im about to tell anyone about some of the rails i've found. Some of these places are historical sites, if tons of people started showing up, I would no longer be able to go there cause they would get pissy. The key to good urban shit is being sneaky. Publically letting some ten or so thousand people about dope rails is a bad idea in my opinion.

yeah i agree to that. plus i think you feel better when you discover shit yourself.. for instance my ski area back home, the very top of the mountain was a state park, and we built our own park at the top, complete with jumps, and a few jibs including a roof jib. It was alittle risky my friend broke her wrist clipping a tree on the inrun and having a pretty bad wreck.. in any case..im way off topic.. but find stuff yourself its alot more fun
