Scariest movie you've ever seen

For some reason I like scary movies. Not awful movies like Saw or Hostel that are made solely for the purpose of inciting extreme disgust and shock. We're talking like "The Ring" and all. That just made you shit your pants and made you sleep with the lights on for a week. Whats yours?
 
probably the sixth sense from back in the day. shit scared me forever.

but recently i watched rest stop, and i thought it was pretty scary.
 
I saw Chainsaw massacre in like...grade 8 and at the time that scared the living shit out of me. I still am kinda scared of it hahah.
 
i can't remember names but some have just scared the jebus out of me, i've slowly peered around corners to make sure there're no deformed monsters or creepy little kids about to kill me and i've slept with the lights on. i'm not one for scary movies so i don't watch many, the shining was scary, and i saw psycho when i was little and it freaked me out
 
never seen one. most horror movies just make me laugh my ass off, i remember the first time i watched The Ring was at this kids birthday party and I just laughed throughout the whole movie, sufficiently pissing off the other kids who hadn't seen it before.

 
not true horror movies, but psychological thrillers. I like a lot of Hitchcock's films. I just saw Vertigo yesterday, it was so good. Psycho is also a classic.

Those films make you think, and don't need blood and gore to be a good movie.
 
The Shining and The sixth sense scared the fuck out of me those are the only two that i really had a tough time watching
 
yeah, the camera angles in psycho are what makes it scary, the scene where he's at the top of the stairs and the camera is from directly above and you just see bates run out with the huge knife and stab the cop, like you see it coming but you always remember those scenes
 
oh and i saw the movie "it" when i was little and i was really scared of showers and thought an evil clown was gonna kill me every time i took a shower haha it definitely messed me up.
 
this episode of "are you afraid of the dark" when i was really small. i couldnt sleep for like a week
 
the ORIGINAL Halloweens..not the new one that came out like a year ago, that was just gay..but the ORIGINALS fuckin scared me shitless

they are starting to grow on me though
 
haha same here exactly. i saw it on tv when i was like 8 and it scared the SHIT out of me, i've always been scared of clowns so when i saw it i shat bricks and couldn't sleep for weeks. i saw it recently and it was totally lame and not scary at all haha but back then i thought i had a good chance of being killed by an evil space clown
 
DAWN OF THE DEAD scared the shit out of me the first time i saw it, what would you do?

THE SHINING because of the stuck in the snow aspect.... we all know what thats like

THE BLAR WITCH PRODJECT.... was very creative and kept me out of the forest for about a month

CHILDS PLAY ( chucky) when i was a kid scared the shit out of me raggedy ann got trashed after that movie

 
id have to say this movie called high tension was pretty scary.
hella bad plot but made me jump outta my seat a few times
 
yeah dude FUCK that movie. i was like 8 and i remember crying twice from it, that movie is sooo sketch, so many shady scenes like the drug addict in the bathroom and then the kid who shot himself in the face...and that ghost in the closet screaming to let him go, ughhhhh.
 
oh and im sorry if i get hated on for this, but the strangers scared the living shit out of me, it looks just like my old house and shit that i lived at at the time. really really cheap scare tactics but still it was way sketch and something like that happening to me is my worst nightmare, just someone fucking with me for no reason.
 
dude theres no shame with the Ring, i watched it when I was ten and remember not being able to close the door when I was in the bathroom for like 3 weeks. I was so god damn scared of Samara
 
The problem is that once you see the Ring, its just creepy, not overtly scary. Scary movies are like one shots deals, once you've seen them they're ruined forever.
 
audition is seriously messed up....

the original version of the amityville horror is pretty good.

The third Poltrigueist still freaks me out... I can no longer handle mirrors when it is dark.
 
anything that is a true story kinda freaks me out like "oh shit son that could happen to me"

but the shining was sick, since it was at hood, i remember this one about an australian guy who like picked up hitchhikers and then tortured them.

My grandparents told me about this lady who picked up a stranger in the mojave desert, then he held a gun to her and made her drive to his house, then he chopped off her arms and left her for dead in the middle of nowhere, she stumb;ed her way to civilzation and lived to tell the tale.
 
for some reason the 6th sense scared the shit out of me, the dead people were so scary in that movie.

the blair witch project was pretty creepy too.
