Scariest Experience On The Mountain

K well we were skiing once and then there was this really unfit guy who suddenly like collapsed and it turned out there was something wrong with his heart so he had to go to hospital. But it was scary because we were the only ones who were there so we had to wait with him until ski patrol came

taking some solo laps mid week at my mountain and ate it on an A frame. i was planing on doing a 270 gapping the last part of the rail but slipped out and some how hit the rail with my hip twice and then landed on the icy landing.. no one was on the trail, no chairlift above me and i couldnt move... had to wait 25 minutes before some one can down the trail to find me there they called ski patrol. my body like went into shock and i kept shaking, mos def the scariest experience ive had on the hill. ended up bruising my pelvic bone and tailbone

I flew off the trail into the woods and hit a tree, and the next thing i remember was waking up in the hospital the next day

One time I like hit like a medium jump and like the landing was icy and like I like had my high-light lenses when it was like dark. Scary as fuck.

Had to haul a guy off the mountain who couldn't remember who he was, where he was, and he couldnt stop screaming, started to freak me out about halfway down the mountain when he just wouldnt stop

turns out he was fine, just a moderate concussion

One might be I saw a mini shredder and he was just bombing down one of the steepest runs at my hill, but he was in a small snowplow and then he lost control and his legs just started shaking going quite fast, He caught an edge and started flipping down the mountain. It was not a fun sight.

Another would be when I was skiing with notghood he spun a 5 off a 20 or something, ate shit on the landing and his brake didnt open so his ski started barreling towards a very little girl riding over the lip of a rail. It took her out completely and kept going for like 50 feet then went into a ditch. The father was not pleased

4man chairlift reaching the summit, couple with their ~7yr old daughter between them in front lift the bar, somehow knocks her ski off. Lil girl reaches forward in reaction to catch it, tumbles off lift. Literally a cliff face underneath she spinning down in slow motion and gets caught 1 foot into the netting under the lift... so so close. felt sick. dude in lifty hut didnt even notice had to yell at him to stop the lift, he clambered out on the netting and brought her in, she didnt make a sound the whole time til she was put in her parents arms and the waterworks started.

cray

Going 65 to 70 mph and getting cut off by a boarder. I hit him so hard that I broke a rib, my goggles and my helmet. He bruised his ass. Freakin jerk.

i dont remember it but it was probably when i got a concussion one night and blacked out the entire afternoon and night. apparently i threw up a bunch in the car and i spent 3 days in the hospital. i probably had no idea what was going on sitting at the bottom hoping my bro would come find me

and trying my first backflip scared the shit out of me too

did this yesterday off a back coutry booter into 3 feet of pow, nearly landed it, just got a tiny bit sideways some how

10years old and followed my bro off a 6ft drop at sunshine village. Went too slow and my tip caught on a rock. Some how brought them back up and sketchily landed.

Also when i tried this jump i thought was 10ft and was 20 ish. Was scary looking down at knuckle and thinking i was goona brake my ankles like THall on chads.ended up over reacting and being fine

Catching a edge on the jump, and loosing your ski, and flying through the air with one ski sideways almost upside down knowing your about to faceplant. The worst is when you know whats going to happen.

Was about to hit Inferno at Mt. Snow for the first time when it was like a 70 two winters ago. The hit before I dropped some guy was about to hit it and caught and edge riding up the lip then proceeded to fall off the jump to the deck (20 ft drop) and break his arm, a leg, and a couple ribs.

I slayed the fuck out of it, but I was scared shitless.

DON'T JUDGE ME BRO

Story time

Met this cool kid in my Spanish class (Upperclassman) and found out he skis every once in a while. I ended up meeting him at our local hill a few times, and it was then I found out he smoked weed. For the first few times he'd smoke a little bit on the lifts, and I'd just sit there. Then after skiing with him 3 or so times and getting to know him, I asked if I could take a hit. (Never smoked in my life, really curious about it, none of my close friends smoked.) He said sure and I did and didn't feel anything. (And Yes I did inhale correctly) So like 2 weeks later he brought 2 of his friends with him and it was like 6:30, and they were going to go smoke. I decided to join, as I didn't get high last time, and at that point thought weed wouldn't be a very strong feeling, no big deal etc. I took a few good hits, and we went on our way. Still wasn't feeling it 20 mins later, and got kinda bummed, but glad at the same time because I had to drive home in an hour.

We headed to the park which is a tow rope, and I headed up the rope. The rope is probably 70 yards to the top, and takes maybe 1 minute to get up. After taking a lap or two I put my head on the rope on the way up to rest. When I picked my head after what felt like 30 seconds I realized I only moved like 10 feet up the hill. Then I looked at the top and it seemed a mile away. When I finally made it to the top after what felt like 10 minutes, I came to the conclusion I was high. I started laughing and skied over to my bros in the other park. Then at this point I realized that I had to drive 45 minutes home in about a half hour.

At this point I realized I was super fucked as 10 seconds felt like 10 minutes, My depth perception was off, and I couldn't remember what happened like 10 seconds ago. It's hard to explain what everything was like but I'm sure a few of you know what its like to be pretty high. The worst part was I had to be home around 9ish because I had school the next day. I ended up being super lucky because my friends were cool and helped me out. I had one friend drive me in my car to my other friends house where we chilled for idk how long, then another friend took me to a rode close to my house, and I then drove the rest of the way home.

Anyway, it was dark out and I was super high and freaking out and scared and it was awful and this is a shitty story and I didn't explain it very well and there is more to it but whatever. (I ended up being 30 mins late and my parents were waiting for me and I had to talk to them stoned at it was awful)

Whatever. I'm just putting off a powerpoint presentation I gotta work on.

I'm not going to smoke weed in the near future thats all I gotta say.

I was at Yagoo Valley Resort and just as I got off the chairlift my pants got stuck and ripped halfway down to my knees. It was a markedly hot day so I wore no simple threads underneath, luckily my penis is small, so I was alright.

Seeing the inside of my kneecap after falling on a rail at Keystone. That was mighty scary.

Coming up short on a natural gap and exploding into the uphill part, also scary.

I have a friend who was skiing at Stowe last year. He ducked into some woods off the gondola with his cousin to scope out this one area where they hadn't skied before (not that out of bounds canyon thing, was the woods above it I think). Anyways skiing sucked in there and trees were super tight, when they finally make it to the clearing they find a fucking bear. Fortunately it ran away when his cousin screamed, but fuck that would have scared the shit out of me.

Never had a truly scary moment, but this one time when I was younger I was skiing at okemo. All of the sudden at like 2 in the afternoon there were plows coming down the trail we where on. Read the news later that day and it turned out just above us on the trail a girl went out of control, skiied into a trail sign, and died right there. We figured that had something to do with the plows being out so early on that trail.

Sun Valley had just rebuilt their jumps for rev tour, so they were massive. By far the biggest jumps i've ever hit. For the first jump you had to hike up past the lift just to get speed. Well, I hiked a tad too far (about 15 feet too far) and hit the first jump WAAAY too fast, landed literally in the tranny. Scariest feeling is the feeling where you are just falling and waiting to hit. Fuck big jumps, man.

I was lining up to hit a 40 foot step over for the first time at a new hill, hadn't seen anybody hit it all day and had no idea what the speed was for it. I hit the lip going around 35-40 in a park tuck and was not ready at all for how poppy the lip was going to be, i got compressed, and i popped off like i was going to do a cork 5. Watching the landing go far behind me while being sideways in the air may have been the scariest moment of my life. Landed straight to flat from about 25- 30 feet in the air and couldn't get up. Ended up in the hospital with internal bleedingm, and a possibly fractured pelvis not knowing if they where going to have to cut me open or not. A guy paced it out later, and said that long ways i went 75-80 feet to flat.

Oh and i wasnt wearing a helmet.

Being a stupid 6th grader, went off a side jump, I couldn't see anything to the left of the jump; go off it, land, then theres a fucking snowmobile, barely got hit. lucky as fuck

Skiing with my brother and an older guy crashing and smashed into him, this launched him into the wood and he slammed into a tree, i ended up colliding with the man to. I stood up looking for him to see him knocked out in the woods next to a tree. Finally Ski patrol noticed me and came to the rescue. He was out old and was having trouble breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, in ICU for several weeks. He had a severe concussion, broke his pelvis, a couple fingers. If he was not wearing a helmet when he crashed, there would of been little to non chance of him living that crash. That was the scariest moment i have ever been through. Lucky for him, me, and my family, he fully recovered and is back to what he loves to do, skiing.

digging one of our Cat ski guides out of a class 3.5 avi last year, was more than 2 meters below the surface, was a crazy day but everything ended up being ok

I was in the middle of a non slow zone groomer on a part of the mountain that newbs can't hit because it is hard. Asshole pops out of the trees and rides directly into my way. Merger always yeilds

hes the downhill skier...bud. unless you were maching right at the edge of the trees(dangerous) you would have had time to see him pop out of the trees and could have cut left or right to avoid him, but you couldnt cause you were out of control.

Fuck you for not being in control. 100% on you. If i would have seen it i would have ratted your ignorant, dangerous ass out to Patrol.

standing ontop of the tallest mountain in the wasatch range and being charged to get struck by lightning

I probably wouldn't report him but I have to agree that it was his fault and should of been looking where he was going

not really scary but funny/sad -

these gaper twins were going through a mini park and one caught both his tips on the front of the box and broke his arm, and he was just laying there. his twin came up to him and started crying, and then they both started crying.

These kids were 14/15 i'd say, and my friend and I, after getting ski patrol were just kinda like "pls don't move your arm and sit still, ski patrol will be here soon" and they were just bawling and bawling. It was super awkward.

i wanted to wait to try it on a bag or in powder off a booter i make myself, but i was running out of time so my first one was on a like a 20ish footer park jump

haha my dad's gps tells him he goes like 200 sometimes.

My scariest experience was wandering to this spot at wolf creek back when I was a total gaper.

Not the scariest, but the most recent scary:

some kid, maybe 13, hit a rail and twisted the fuck out of his leg by getting it caught on the side and let out this blood curdling scream of death and started to cry. I thought he snapped his leg in half or something. My friend and I just looked at each other like wtf just happened and asked if we should call ski patrol.

Then probably 10 seconds later the kid gets up, stops crying, and skis away. My friend and I were so friggin confused we didn't know whether or not to start laughing or drop to our knees and profusely thank God for saving this kid.

When i was ten i fell i missed the rail out of a tree run on whistler. ended up in a real thick are and had to try and jump a creek, fell ten feet down into like 3 inches of water. enough to be soaking wet. i had broke my ski and had to first climb out of the creek. then hike for 30-40 min in fresh snow with just ski boots in the middle of nowhere. somehow ended up at the bottom.

I was just chillin, first run of the night, skiing with my girlfriend takin' it eeeasy. At the bottom of the run near the lift I decide to pop a lil 180, no biggie, what could go wrong? Land 180 and look back up the run and see a snowboarder literally 2 feet behind me, crouched down, bombing it. There was no time for me to move out of the way. He let out a battle cry and then BOOM! Knocked me on my ass, the impact actually knocked my helmet off and I hurt my neck so bad that I had to call it a night. Shit sucked.
