Scared of Full Tilts

I currently have salomon x10s but they're getting near their EOL...I was looking at fulltilts cuz everyone seems to like them, but it seems like a phase to me...It just doesn't seem like it would be supprtive enough for hard carves and stuff...I understand that Seth rides them, but I think he could do it in flip flops...are their mid flex boots stiff enough to get by with all mountain and still be okay in the park?
 
the stiffest full tilt tongue (number 9) comes as standard on the Seths and the First Chair next year, this will be a stiffer, more progressive flex than the salomon xwave 10. They are slightly narrower though, and maybe not quite as tall. I am pretty sure the number 8 tongue which comes on the Konflict would be fine. The fact you can TUNE the flex by swapping tongues out is what I really like about FT, for instance, use a stiffer flex in the spring as its warmer, or a softer flex if your just goofing around in the park.

Best thing to do though is go try some on, what fits comfortable for one person is painful for another.
 
my suggestion is get the new rasta dalbello krypton il morros, they are so comfortable they look cool and can shred hard any where, also is the only boot that wont give u shin or heal bang.
 
go try them on. I know they are all the same shell, but the only liner I liked at all was the High Five's liner. I didn't end up getting them though, I got Solly Falcon CS Pros instead. They were stiffer than any FT tongue I tried(I tried 9s) and felt nearly perfect. With intuitions they will be great, and if your sollys are a 98 last,m why change brands if you can still get a boot that fits from solly?
 
I liked the Solly's, I just had to play with them a lot...they wore down pretty fast too...they had great control for the most part, but I didnt like their versatility with bindings...Great for charging and big mt, but I spend soooo much time instructing, thats not what they were made for...which is why I was thinking about the FTs...trying them out always sounds good, but because of how I ride, how often I use them, and the versatility of what I ride (whether conditions or skis) I have to think about my boots like 50 days out...it's tough to do, and I havent heard reviews from anyone other than park rats...sooo jst a lil hesitent...hows hiking in both the FT's and Dalbelos?
 
seth designed a #17 also but after stomping a 70 foot lincoln instead of the boot flexing the heel piece just ripped right off the ski because he rides with his din at 47
if you think full tilts will be too soft, then get something stiffer. i ski everything in 110 race boots or touring boots, i can't stand soft boots. just because full tilts are famous on here doesn't mean you have to get them
 
I wasn't thinkin of them because they are famous...I like the concept of a boot that doesn't bulge...I've always rode 110s I think I may go less now for standard stuff cuz on rails 110's seem almost too responsive, and they suck to work in daily...
 
I think the full tilt wont have the lateral stiffness you require If your teaching at a high level. Freeriding lateral stiffness isnt as much of an issue. The plastic shell flexes or bulges at the side a bit more in a FT when compared to a thicker density in the Dalbello.

To be honest its hard to beat the precision of a conventional four bucke overlap boot but if you are prepared to sacrifice some performance for comfort then the FT's might be ok. I'd get the dalbello over the FT when looking for hard snow performance, but in Freeride, softer conditions I prefer the lightness of the Full Tilt.
 
Yeah I hear ya. Dalbellos are literally twice as much as FT in Canada, The IL moro from dalbello is like $800 , whereas FT hotdogger is more like $400 CDN.
 
hmm, makes sense. Just so you know I put about 120 days on my F9s, which are all the cheaper parts for Solly boots while still not being low end(F10/Pro are made much better) with no complaints. Older than 08 Sollys that I owned did have annoying cheap parts that more recent years did not. As for hiking, Dalbello's(I have owned Il Moros) are noticably heavier than FT and Falcons(I have owned Falcons and used FTs too for hiking and touring). The flat bootboard(no slope like Dalbello/Solly) on FTs IMO makes it so you have to give a little more effort while walking up but I am sure some disagree. Touring worked great in Falcons and fine in FTs weight wise, but Il Moros were a bit much for weight. As for charging I did not prefer the flat bootboard I mentioned in FTs and didn't like the very upright stance much either. In order of forward lean/slope of boots: FT flat/upright, Falcons were a fairly sloped bootboard and slighty forward leaning, and Il Moros were similar bootboard with more forward lean. Weight: Falcons about 1lb more than FTs in a size 28.5 of both, barely noticable, and Il Moros weigh 2lbs more at least than Falcons which was noticable. As I said, Intuitions to go with any of these for sure. The FT intuitions are cheaper made then intuitions that you buy from Intuition, the Dalbello Intuitions are nicer than any FT but still not as nice as the actual Intuitions. Also if you buy from Intuition you get many more choices.
 
I know...but it's like most things I guess...I remember my buddies dad, "All of these young kids love these damn parabolic skis, takes the fun out of it...could make a cripple ski..." Enough noise sometimes makes you wonder...I haven't really heard anything other than what I thought they were...a soft flex boot that looks cool and is comfy...
