Scared of falling off the chairlift?

^ Man thats some serious shit to go through at such a young age. One of my friends broke his tib a couple of years ago and he had a pretty tough time. I can see why you approve.

haha where do they have this? its pretty cool idea i just cant imagine that people fall off enough to need this

haha, can't wait to see 2 kids ski down he mountain when suddenly their two magnets attract eachother and they collide :D
but seriously, this isn't that bad of an idea, although i would suggest they install it on 1 or 2 chairs of each gondola and give the backprotector thingies to kids under 10 or something, cause seriously, little kids can fall trough without a problem, especially if they are alone on the lift and are playing around...

IF this happens Im bringing a giant magnet to the hill so i can magnetically shove gapers with magnetic vests out of my way...

But really if you worried about the chairlift you(or your child for moms) should stay off the slopes. The chairlift is the damn easy part

is this realy a problem? how often do people actualy fall off the chair and have a serious injury. And how often does it happen when its not caused by people being idiots.

that's the problem dude, people are idiots, especially little kids, all they see is fun and games, but magnets are serious business, how the f do they work ?

I feel like the deactivation will fail and kids will get sent around the bullwheel, could be problematic and comical at the same time

i'd be so fucking pissed if my chair arrive and there's a fucking kid stuck in my seat.

And i wonder how that magnet on their back works. Like can i push them into metal stuff like lift towers and they'll stick to it?

You guys, it's not a magnet on their back, It's a steel plate. It also doubles as a back protector.

Hmmmm. Sort of a good idea, but I can't really see it being implemented...

I work as a ski instructor in the Alps and have already had experience with this. Say what you want, but this system, if used in clearly distinguished "ski school areas" only, helps us a lot. It's not that much about the kids - it's about our responsibility if we have 6 or 8 kids and can't possibly watch all of them during the lift ride. Most ski resorts build 8 seaters nowadays and even if you sit in the middle, you can't control all of them. It's a shame that some(!) kids have become so dependent (or hyperactive, or unable to follow instructions) that you can't leave them in a chair lift on their own any more. However, it is not our job to change that.

This system is about protecting ski instructors from legal claims. And not only ski instructors - lift operators, too! Because parents of kids who've hurt themselves tend to look for someone to blame. Especially US Americans should know what I'm talking about. Remember the McDonald's coffee case?

i know this is somewhat ridiculous, but i have seen quite a few kids fall off of chairlifts, so i can see concerned parents bein into the idea
