I use a minolta dimage scan dual III slide scanner which was around 300 from B&H...I dont see the reason to buy a 2500 dollar scanner unless you are using it for a living since you are going to have pictures done at a lab where they should be using a drum scanner which is more money than you would ever think about spending. And the difference in resolution is minimal, the cost doesnt really justify paying a lot more. Check out the pictures under my profile I used my scanner for those, and thats after shrinking them and lowering the DPI to make them 30k and smaller.
