I really want an SLR but also want to be able to my picks on my computer. A digital SLR is too much money for me, so i was thinking i could just buy a scanner. Does anyone know of any quality scanners that could scan pictures well onto the computer?

i use a nikon 4500 slide scanner for my pics - check um out on my profile. scanner is a couple thou $ though i think

I use a minolta dimage scan dual III slide scanner which was around 300 from B&H...I dont see the reason to buy a 2500 dollar scanner unless you are using it for a living since you are going to have pictures done at a lab where they should be using a drum scanner which is more money than you would ever think about spending. And the difference in resolution is minimal, the cost doesnt really justify paying a lot more. Check out the pictures under my profile I used my scanner for those, and thats after shrinking them and lowering the DPI to make them 30k and smaller.
