Scams on craigslist

I put my old ipod up on craigslist and I got someone to offer what i was asking they said its for there step son birthday who lives in west africa. I thought it may be a scam and I keep emailing back to see the responses and I get responses. But they are in such bad grammar. I thought it might be ok, but I just got an email from someone else who said they are interested and they need it to be sent to someone in Nigeria.

Do you all think this is a scam? I am leaning towards yes

those are definitely scams. never sell to anyone on craigslist who is not local... and as a general rule don't sell to people who have bad grammar or do not put spaces after periods. Anything that you think sounds possibly fake is... just be smart about it

alright so to get out of the deal I told the guy I dropped it and it broke, cracked and the screen is shot. He is like name your price now Im sure i still works (in broken english) This has to be a scam. Fuck those Africans. Im not racist but no one fucks with me Ill stab a bitch

its not a scam if he actually sends you money for it ,

its plain and simple, if he sends you money you send the ipod out, if he doesnt send you money then dont send the ipod

but im afraid he will have some way of making the payment not go through. I am just going to sell it locally because its not to common that 2 people from Africa are looking in the Cincinnati classifieds for an IPOD

dude it happened to me. they wanted to send me a cashiers check, then have me wire them back the difference. someone in london. its fucking gay. it is a scam man. they get you money and you go bankrupt prettty much.

its so friggin fake its not even funny. it happens on every craigslist in the country. they go after every high price electronic item hoping someone will bite. And ridiculously enough, it actually works. I messed with them back and forth and they even sent me this fake money order and shit. I eventually reported it to the FBI but i dont think anything happened.

I was tempted to shit in a box and mail it to them, but I sort of pussed out. If only I still had that address.....

i have my dirt bike listed and some fuckin number keeps calling me and its some recording talking about how they can sell it for me for more money. im only gonna sell it to someone local tho so im not too worried about getting ripped off. but its sad how ppl try to fuck people over

yea that shit is most certainly a scam.

It's like the college emails that you get (or just emails in genreal for some people) from people in Africa saying that somebody died and you get part of the money, usually in the millions. Of course the email is very poorly writen; bad grammar, punctuation, etc. They get you to give them your bank account info and voila, your money is gone. Or something like that.

Ignore this guy, or just fuckin mess with him. But do not give in.

who thinks that shit up though?

And who the fuck falls for "send me a cashiers check, I'll wire back the difference? Ps, i'm in Zimbabwe".

yea, this is one of my craigslist experience with a dirtbag.

nigeria has plenty of pro scammers, if they have that terrible grammar and even mention africa, its a scam.

I dont get how you can get scammed, I mean why dont you just be like aight mail me a money order and then I'll mail you the ipod... pretty hard to get scammed when you're selling stuff. Definately not legit though still smart to just avoid the situation I guess maybe there is indeed some way to rip off a seller.

this is the golden rule..

don't ship your item until you recieve the money.

If they insist you send the item first, its obviously a scam.

Hold on dude, pretend it is a real ipod, but make it out of cardboard, write a high value on the content when you ship it, he will pay high taxes and get a cardboard box...

you can get scammed because they send you a fraudulent cashiers check or money order. your bank will accept it to begin with, but they will hold you responsible for the money anyway. it is a bad deal
