What happened to this mag, it used to be good, now it fucking bites, the last few issues have been horrible, the Ontario story sucked. The Hoser Issue, that was probably the worst issue ever published. Suprising cause Snowboard Canada (SBC) is a really good mag. The photo's in that mag are bullshit, except for a few, it looks like a Canadian version of Powder now.

 
I totally agree, the first few issues were awesome. But now the magazine is complete garbage. There are some good pics in there sometimes but for the most part, they just don`t seem to know what makes a good photo.

I'm pretty glad someone actually brought this issue up. I never had any problems with SBC up until this year, but after that Ontario article I was at a loss for words. The lack of relevance (or even truth in some cases) made me question every other piece of content that SBC had done. I had counted on SBC to bring a unique and understanding viewpoint to Canadian skiing but it's clear to me now that they just don't get it. It's sad really, it had so much potential.

They havnt been about pros and the extravangance that we are used to seeing in Freeze and Freeskier... So what? Its about grassroots Canadian skiing and I think this is good for the sport. Shows us a side of it maybe not everyone knows about. I can read Freeze and learn all about the newest trick and steeze, and I can read Freeskier and learn what clothes I should wear in order to be cool. Skier is more about the lifestyle and roots.

Lay off eh, i agree the first issue of the year wasn't the best, but its still canadian so shut your hole. Though I don't understand how you can hate the Hoser Issue, like seriously man, meat salad, doesnt get better than that. Herb and Bud are the best shit thats ever happened to this world, and that article on Nowhere is really good. Everytime i read that magazine it just makes me swell with pride at being canadian. So back of you Hoser!

 
i had never seen this magazine before in any book/smoke shops, then i find it in Hannaford supermarket in hannaford, weird, but whatever. i did like bud and herb, but, i had heard in several 'bestmag' surves, that SBC was 'the shit' but, it wasnt that great, but, some of the articles were kinda cool, but the pics suck.

shut up faggots...SBC Skier is the best thing to hit the racks...what would you rather look at? Ski canada...seeing as all the other rags are so fuckin USA bias...its the only way you can get the scoop on whats up in canada...plus you dont have to look at repetative american influenced shit...its all about the herb in canada anyways

Agreed. Snowboard Canada is a great zine... Lots of reading. Great pictures. It combines everything that was mentioned above as being good... Skier was great when it first came out, now it's just lame. I will continue to buy it, just because it shows places I actually ski at and people we all know, but that is about the only bonus.... I can read SBC over the course of 20 dumps, as opposed to Skier, in which I only take approx. 3-4 poos with....

I just finished reading the final issue for the season. They're back on the right track. Should be out in a few weeks. Have faith.

 
SBC Skier has always killed it. It's not quite Snowboard Canada, but it's getting there. The people working for them that I've interacted with have been awesome, and they've been really good to us as a sponsor. I could understand you Ontario skiers being a little choked after that article, but if you read it carefully, there's a lot of positive stuff written in there. The people that needed to be highlighted, as far as I know, got highlighted. One 'controversial' article does not make a magazine bad.

It's almost unfair to compare Snowboard Canada to Skier anyways. The ski industry/scene isn't developped enough to support a magazine at as high a level as Snowboard Canada. Both magazines are published by SBC Media, so when skiing gets to the same level as snowboarding, you'll see some sick stuff coming out of Skier. Give it the time it needs.

i have a subscription to this mag, cause the first couple years were awesome, so i'm hoping the last couple were just a bit off and they'll fix the problems.i also agree that they no longer have enough of the newschool stuff, more like powder now
