Saying bye to NS for a bit

So I ship out to army basic training and will belong to them for the next 5 years. Going as an EOD specialist (bomb squad).

basically wanted this my whole life and the time has come. I know a lot of you guys dont support the war or us but please support the troops. Im a fireman in NY currently and even till this day the 9/11 attacks can be felt in my firehouse...we lost a few good men who served in the FDNY. I still feel like I need to do my part to serve this country since there are so many who served before me.

you guys are a great community and its been real Peace out for a while

you won't be able to go ns on for 5 years? or just the first few months. my cousin is in the chinese army and he wasn't allowed to use the internet only for the first 3 months
 
good luck man, that being said 911 was an inside job and the government is actually being run by aliens.
 
I'm against war but I still have mad respect or those who willingly serve. Good luck and congrats on landing your dream military job!
 
60 minutes did a segment on the mission to get Obama tonight, and i know youre probably not going to be a fkn Navy Seal, but i gained so much respect for soldiers in general from watching that.The guy being interviewed just causally shrugged off the part where the pointman sacrificed himself to block a possible suicide bomber, real heroes.
 
Maybe give us a blog or something, I'll keep this in threads if you keep us updated, would be cool to see how an NSer is doing over there.
 
Best of luck to ya man. Basic is not as bad as they make it out to seem. I made it through Air Force basic about a year and a half ago, and have spoken to several friends that went through army basic too. It's all roughly the same thing, just a huge mind fuck. Stay mentally strong, and have that one person/thing to keep your mind set on that will push you to do great. if you have a goal, then your DI's or anybody can't stop you. So again thanks man, and the best of luck.

I don't support it in terms of I think it's completely pointless and the same with the troops but I support them in terms of the fact that they're trying to do something good and that I hope everyone get's back home safely.
