I'm hoping it was an accident. I also don't mean any disrespect. Wouldn't you think a ski shop might know a little better though?

to be fair, the gloves are called that... but don't be a pussy and just take a photo of something you don't think is right.

speak up. talk to the manager.

Maybe someone should also speak with auclair.....thats a pretty tasteless name for a glove. Goes to show how out of touch with the industry some companies are.

yea, they should fucking change there name, can you believe a mother fucking mother fuck company is the same name as a skier???!!!!!!? holy fucking fuck shit wow this company is gay and should just fuck off, wow.

To the people that are getting upset over this, I can understand that. However the person who wrote/organized that did not mean disrespect. It is a simple case of someone who is misinformed. OP should definitely inform the shop manager.

No idea why this thread is so downvoted.

Can someone explain to me what is so disrespectful I'm so confused

Auclair is the second name of the deceased skier "Jean-Philippe Auclair" or "JP Auclair" and therefore having a glove named "Auclair drop dead" is rather disrespectful.

Interested to know if the gloves were manufactured before or after the death of the exceptional skier.

RIP JP, you'll never be forgotten.

Chill

im not sure how you possibly thought i meant change their company name ... maybe the name of the model of the glove though, I would if it was my company.

Its just a nice gesture to a decent sized portion of your market, things like that can go a long way in business.

But i also understand that this shop and auclair gloves obviously didnt mean

to disrespect JP, this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

These are the actual name of the gloves, made by the ski glove company "Auclair". The gloves by the ski company, Auclair, were probably made long before the passing of the skier, Auclair. This sign means no disrespect and is not any form of personal attack. The shop would need to do this as they cant sell mislabeled or unidentified gloves, and they were likely unaware of JP auclair. Of course the company wont change anything and these gloves are likely being sold in many ski shops with the same name, as they were before jp's passing.

Its an unfortunate coincidence, but nothing to be appalled over.

Fuck yourselves.

What? Can you read? How is it so awful to suggest someone should maybe contact Auclair- The company that makes these gloves- that a skiier who was very important to the community with the last name auclair has just passed away and maybe they should consider changing the name of the "drop dead" model of gloves

How is that any different, other than likeliness of being followed through on, than telling the shop owner that the sign may be a bit disrespectful because of the circumstances of JP's passing?

I was horribly hungover when i posted that and realize that auclair gloves probably will not change the model name on the glove..... but im not sure why that idea has so many people pissed off and why I'm being quoted in the same context as the guy who thinks this is funny....

If I havent been clear enough, i dont think this is a joke and my post was referring to auclair gloves, not JP.

SIP JP

You guys realize that Auclair mitts/gloves have been around since 1945?

The only place I've found the Drop Dead glove, it's either discounted or sold out. I can pretty much guarantee that this is an old model and was manufactured long before anything ever happened to JP.

I understand, if you look two posts above I admit that I misquoted you

I get people CAN get offended, but honestly, get over it. I hate to be that guy, because I also love Auclair, and his All.I.Can. Segment was the first influence on my motivation to be a park skier (so the dude means alot to me, plus he showed me the light on my favorite jump trick mute 3) but if you guys are getting offended over this, then you should get over it because to be completely unbiased, he is no longer alive, and people who are no longer alive really need no more attention, except for what they did when they WERE alive. I strongly dislike when people get all touchy and sensitive about stuff like this. DO you think JP would be like, "wow that is disrespectful to me and my legacy. FUCK YOU."? No. No he wouldn't. You should think the same way. not a big deal, and nothing to get angry about. Chill out everyone.

I also realize that this is a glove company and there was a mixup of names and misinformation.

The reason I find it so offensive is because its a SKI shop. Its not like your clearence section at the dollar store its a ski shop. It was literally the first thing I noticed as soon as I walked in. I talked to a lady about it and she kinda just shrugged it off and said she "oh my thats creepy!!" I didn't really want to make a scene so I kinda just left it alone. I wasn't sure what else to do.

I hope it was just some guy that has never skied and has nothing to do with the ski community, because if it was someone that knew what he was writing thats just 2 fucked up man

I seriously don't understand why everyone in this thread is personally offended by this. The Auclair Drop Dead glove is a legitimate product with a legitimate name. A shop cannot mislabel the glove & they aren't going to throw away inventory. Sure, you can have a gut reaction that in the context of JP Auclair's passing, this is kind of in bad taste, but there is little to no connection between the two. Everytime I see threads like this, it makes me think about the time one of my friends referred to Newschoolers as "an elitist white kid ski forum", and it makes me laugh that he was so spot. Everyone in this thread is acting so "holier than thou", get the fuck over it.

you're all so fucking dumb do you get all pissy if something costs $9.11 because it reminds you of terrorism this entire thread is cancer and i hope OP gets aids.(or was joking)

Yeah its hugely shitty that jp died but this is literally the dumbest thing i have ever read, what the fuck does it do if a glove has a stupid name

This. Auclair has been around forever and obviously they named the glove that long before he died. I absolutely loved JP but I think if he was still around he would think this is silly that we're all butthurt about his.
