Ok so apparently Christians have now started a Christian gym. Where the teachings of god are tied into working out. Great cool good for them. However when they went and showed footage of the health food bar the plethora of aptly named jesus treats you could buy drew the line.

And then to push it over the edge, the gym is for 100% personal profit.

Ok people this is the rank part.

religion, Christian religions mainly, ARE NOT about going to church, or worshiping a god. If you read the original Gospel of Thomas, supposedly the first gospel ever written which I might add the Vatican has claimed was written by a heretical gnostic group, it says the last thing Jesus wanted us to do was worship him.

It states that we are to just be the best people we can be on a day to day basis. It explain how the 10 commandments are a set of guidelines not laws. And that god does not exist inside a church, but instead EVERYWHERE.

Christianity is a corporation. I am not saying there is a single thing wrong with believing in god, or whoever you believe in, just don't miss out on the message.

Religion is about having faith, and believing in yourself, and having faith in humanity, and being the best person you can be.

Put all the bullshit and gimicks aside and WAKE THE FUCK UP to the big picture.

rant over.

Faith gives people power, no doubt. In fact, the Christian Church is the top earner in the US for a non-profit organization. Think Cardinals and Bishops arent making bank? Religion has always been a way for people to earn money, and this is just a continuation of that.

yep, religion has always been very comercialised. the first one to notice how much bullshit christianity has in it was Martin Luther (monk). he greatly help expose the evils of the christian chuch.

back in the 1500's the church had an operation where you paid money to go into a little rom with a important religious artifacts. this apperently eliminated the wait in purgatory. and another thing were you were encoraged to buy peices of paper blessed by the pope for you and your family. these papers aperantly garenteed your acceptance to heaven. such bullshit

"And that god does not exist inside a church, but instead EVERYWHERE."

well Jesus was wrong about that then.

i don't have my membership anymore cause my mom didn't think i was going enough. i miss those good times with me and my YMCA.

i few years ago i decided (after much thought and consideration) that i didnt believe in god. in fact, as much as i hate to say it, i was totally against god and believing in him. whenever someone talked about religion i debated it with them. oh yeah. i was that guy. (read: asshole)

one day it occured to me: religion is not such a bad thing.

sure, most wars have been caused by strong religious beliefs, but after watching my mom (who is a parish nurse and works at an inner city Lutheran Church) "spread the word of god" as she calls it...i really had a revalation.

i realized that these people in the most poverty stricken neighborhoods in milwaukee, in this church, are some of the nicest people i have ever met. because of what a really old book said, they are kind and giving and generous to each other.

i dont believe in god, but if believing in god turns you into a better person to others and a better person in life, more power to you. whatever floats your boat.

dont judge.

and thats all i have to say about that.

thats cus the kosher rule is a huge part of their religion, strict food laws, aside from the no meat on fridays during lent, is not an instrumental part of christianity

You bring up a good point, one I have debated amongst my friends often. You say that poor people, because they have religion are happy. However, is this faith artificial? Are they fed it to keep their spirits up and support people doing better than them? Can a person truly lead a happy life if they only have the happiness brought through faith?

For myself, happiness and self worth is determined by how I know myself, eg: at the end of my life, I can pretend to look back and say, yeah, I led a happy life because I truly knew myself instead of relying on an omnipotent deity. I found happiness in life through myself and myself alone. If people find happiness through their life through the teachings of someone else, say a holy power through a book of verse, than do they really get the message and the meaning? Who's to say they aren't simply repeating what they've been told to give themselves an artificial sense of worth? And most importantly, is there a difference between the happiness I achieve and the happiness one follower of faith could achieve?

All interesting stuff, go debate on it now.

according to the bible i can't masturbate, take a shit in my own home, and have sex with animals, which are conveniently my favorite things to do.

yea im not down with the whole religion thing. theres a couple that are actuall decent religions though. like buhddism(sp), catholicism and jewish(having a brain fart and cant think of the 'ism' word) seem to be alright

its pretty bad when someone doesnt know there own religion! or they misunderstand it in a way. (I agree with you enlighter)

Wait, so you're quoting a gnostic text, refuted by scholars, let alone the people contemporary to the biblical text, to say that the last thing Jesus wanted was worship?

What about, say the entire Bible?

the bible was just a book that some guy wrote tryin to make a buck that was soon turned into a religion by miscomunication through the languages and you know the rest.

I think religions are good... but you are right people who abuse power obtained by religion should just....... pretty much that is not the work of the rligion or what it stands for... if you are human and obtain power you will abuse it. so called "christians" who gain profit or whatever your mad about, are not really chrisitans at all.. there hypocrits.

One thing though is that it is humanyl impossible not to sin, abuse power, or be a hypocrit. so pretty much no one is actually a christian if everyone is really hypocryt......

oops tru my bad, i should have said dont believe instead of against

ok and to explain experience it I'll answer it indirectly.

When people are like God dosent exist there's no proof. For me "i'd say im christian" I have my own proof, i have personaly been afected by God. If you truely in your heart desire to find proof of God you will find it.

also scientificaly I'd say christianity has never been proven fake or anything like that. FACT: many scientists who go to research things to proove that God desent exist, end up becoming religious, because they realize.........i'll stop about here. lol

I remember learning in school how the some church, or the religion in england. Maybe england, not sure where, made people buy certain like, things to cleanse them of their sins. So all these people were spending money on nothing to get rid of their "sins".

cardinals and bishops are from the catholic churchs. Christiantty is seprate from that. Pretty much catholic, christian, muslam are all branches of eachother

i agree way too many people take advantage of religion, the catholic church was basically a tyrannical government during the middle ages

My bad, I dont know the hierarchy of the church, having never been a member. Still, the point remains - The Catholic Church IS the top earning non profit group in the USA. The people who run it make BANK.

Seriously? That's so gay. Like...hold to the iron rod as in hold on to that rope dammit or you'll fall and break your leg! I hate being Christian or even religious for that matter.

if your not sure about your religion theres plenty of spaces in athieism! we follow the teachings of a man named charles darwin! join now if scientology is just too far-fetched for you!

Rowen, there is a difference between the Christian Church, as you said in your first post, and the Catholic Church, like you say now.

Please, when it comes to matters such as these, let's be clear about what demoniatioon, organisation and so on that you are mentionning...

Shit, my bad, I did say Christian when I meant Catholic back there. Its Catholic Church, and I'd post the quote and site, but I have a class, gotta run!
