Save to disk?

i'm trying to download videos from NS onto my computer but when i try to download a .MOV or a .WMV movie i dont get the pop-up that asks me whether i want to save it or just open it. Does anyone know how i could save the MOV and WMV movies so i can put them on my iPod?
