Very true, all I'm saying is that Russia is a way better place to live than SA if you're a minority (woman, gay, religious minority etc) and that boycotting events Russia in 2014 is not on the same level as boycotting events in SA today.

Bruh you are so wrong... Hundreds of millions of people have been killed or forced to commit suicide in wars, genocides, and conquests over the millenia purely based on differences in religious beliefs or because it is "God's will". It's not uncommon for ethnic violence to have a religious component too. Countries like Saudi Arabia are so fucking psycho because they follow their religious teachings to a T and expand on them in harmful, extreme ways that trample human rights. Dont get me started on the Aztecs lol.

It's all smoke and mirrors no matter what era or religion you wanna talk about.

Also note I never said anything about deaths in my original post. I said human rights violations which doesn't require you to look further than your local, state, or national government to see rights being restricted based on Christian beliefs.

Aren't you like 12? I know history class is pretty general and world politics type courses are optional but goddamn do you live in a bubble?

I know your end game here, but I'll bite anyways.

People absolutely did speak out about both Russia (primarily because of their recent laws that were a step back for gay rights shortly before the Olympics) and China (primarily about the treatment of Uyghurs). But for human rights, 2014 Russia > 2022 China > 2024 Saudi Arabia. And it's not even close (at least comparing Russia to the other two). They are not equal and don't merrit an equal response.

Even if they were comparable situations, saying we should care now because we didn't speak out a decade ago is such a shitty mentality.

Idk why you guys are bringing up the aztecs as an example. The Spanish were incomparably worse. If you think otherwise, do a quick search of what "Encomienda" was or read what Bartolome de las casas wrote about what the Spaniards did to the the people they colonized.
