Taking it on saturday. I have no idea whats coming. What should i expect, how long is it, what will i have to do as far as essays. Any tips for being prepared
 
I took the may 2nd one and it was super fuckin long. I was had this really bad headache and a lax game later that day and everything was piling up, so at one point I was just like "fuck it" and hamered away instead of worrying. I ended up doing really good. Basically dont worry about it, cuz at this point theres nothing really to study
 
Expect to be there a long ass time, make sure you get there early too. Bring extra pencils, your own pencil sharpener, extra triple A batteries for your calculator just in case. I took a Monster, Full Throttle and an Amp to keep me awake. Other than that, don't freak out. You don't get points taken off for wrong answers, only points for the right ones, so always take a guess at least. You can always go back and take it again, the better score if the score you keep. bring some snacks+ water n wear sumthin comfortable, the hardest part is staying focused for the whole timegood luck
 
Nah, not at all. You lose a 1/4 of a point for each wrong answer so dont just randomly geuss if you are running out of time. Only geuss if you can eliminate a couple of wrong answers. Also, dont freak out and try hard to concentrate. I always find myself spacing out haha. So yea its really not that bad just focus. Good luck.
 
That's a lie. You don't get points taken off if you skip

 a question. You do get them off if you answer incorrectly.

Have you ever taken a practice one before? Cause that helps a ton. The more familiar you are with the test layout, the easier it will be.

It starts right off with having to write an essay, but thats the only essay you have... I think. I'm pretty sure for mine they had background info, something along the lines of respecting your elders (for the May 2nd one.. it's different for every test).

It's divided into a bunch of sections, ranging from 40 mins to 10 mins, most of them are 20-25 I believe.

If you know you won't be able to answer the questions quickly (especially on the math), just skip them. You'll get more problems done therefore more points in the time you'd be sitting thinking about the other problems.
 
I got it backwards, you're right. If you skip its alright, 1/4 for wrong. I took the test a long time ago, I just remember it being long.
 
I'm taking it on saturday as well. I'm not worried about the math portion at all, but the others could be a problem. I suck at English and I know I'm going to space out a lot during the English parts. I haven't studied at all... I probably should have studied some but fuck it, I can always take it again later if I really screw up.
 
its like 8 am to 1 pm. so around 5 hours. for the essay, include a lot of random knowledge and connect it. i did that and got a perfect 12 on the essay
 
Ahh I remember doin the SAT's... boring as shit. First time I did it I got a 1210 and the second time I got a 1330 hung over as fuck, go figure.
 
my sister had them and after they were done she called me crying hahaha. but she still passed and got super good on it.
 
Before people flame me calling me a retard, I should note that when I took it in 2004-2005, it was out of 1600 not the 2400 or whatever it is now...

pared and havent studied...

in my town, everyone gets tutors like months in advance, same for PSAT's and SATII's, its almost nuts, but its the norm...
 
im taking the SAT for my first time on saturday. i can barely sit through my 55 minute classes. how the hell am i supposed to sit through a 5 hour test?
 
i took a practice one last monday, basically just try to stay focused and don't spend too much time on a hard questionfor the essay use examples from literature, history, or politics, don't use personal experience
i'm taking sat 2's this saturday but they're only an hour long each so its fine
 
I took the May 2nd ones

I got there at 745 and got out at 1.

8 sections I think.

not true. this guy is right about using examples from history, that works really well. for example, the first time i took it, i used an example from the Cold War and got a 10. but using personal experience is not bad. the time i got a 10, i not only used the historical example but also a more "real-life" example. The second time I took it, I believe i wrote about the Great Depression or something, but I also used a personal experience and I got a 12 (perfect score). So if you have a good personal experience and can write about it in an effective manner, don't be afraid to. But do make sure to have a historical example.
