there were 4 kids from my school who got into stanford this year, but a lot of very qualified students who did not, including me 
as well as a kid with double legacy and a 4.0 who founded a successful service organization, and is a math and computer science pimp, and a valedictorian with a 2330 and a 4.0 who is pretty much a genius... but hell, they're going to harvey mudd and MIT respectively so they've got nothing to complain about.
