San Francisco, (Ski Press) Fillmore Street, one of San Francisco’s steepest streets will be turned into a massive urban ski jump on Saturday August 27th, between 11 am and 5 pm, as 20 top skiers and riders compete for over $100,000 in cash and prizes in the inaugural ICER AIR 2005 big air event.

More than 12,000 cubic feet of snow will be used to create the jump and launch athletes over distances of up to 70 feet, and to heights reaching 20 feet in the air. The ski jump will cover 800 downhill feet on Fillmore Street, between Broadway and Green Streets, with spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The big-air invitational features some of the most talented athletes on the mountain today. Athletes include: Jimi Tomer, Kurt Wastell, Andreas Wiig, JJ Thomas, Ali Goulet, Aaron Biittner, Darrell Mathes, John Jackson, Marc Frank Montoya, Kye Petersen, TJ Schiller, Simon Dumont, Rory Silva, Eric Pollard, CR Johnson, Sean Field, Mickael Deschenaux, Grete Eliassen, Candide Thovex and Jon Olsson.

“We are excited and proud to be hosting what we hope to be the first of many ICER events that bring together urban and athletic communities,� said Arne Morkemo, ICER spokesperson. “Given its incredibly steep streets and spectacular views, San Francisco is the ideal city to host the inaugural big-air competition.�

 
I thought we already went over this, Its a scam. That came around here a couple of months ago and everyone said it was a fake.

fyi...they poured snow down Lombard Street to film a Lexus commercial, so anything is possible

Twenty Pro Athletes To Compete on One of the Steepest Streets In San Francisco For Over $100,000 in Cash and Prizes

WHAT: ICER AIR 2005 is a big-air ski and snowboard competition held on one of the steepest streets of San Francisco. An 800-foot ski jump course will be constructed on Fillmore Street and covered with 12,000 cubic feet of snow for the first-of-its-kind urban ski event. Olympic ski champion Jonny Moseley will host the event.

The athletes, 10 pro-skiers & 10 pro-snowboarders, will clear an entire city block over the Vallejo Street intersection to the landing area on Fillmore Street between Vallejo and Green Streets. Ideal jumps will have the riders cover over 60 feet and up to heights of 20 feet above street level.

Athletes will be competing for over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Charity partners for ICER AIR 2005 are Boarding for Breast Cancer and CHARITYSMITH.

Scam I am. It's an elaborate scam, but 100 000 dollars for one single big air comp, from a company that doesnt exist(icer air doesnt exist, it's a wax company), seems a little too much. It's an advertisement campaign, look up for a thread about the same thing in the search bar...

This event is completely and utterly for real. I'm working for icer amongst others this coming year and this event is happening. We have media coverage, permits from the city, and all the sponsorship money needed to make this happen.

So if you are anywhere in the western U.S. I'd reccommend making the drive to San Fran. This is gonna be the shit and the guys at Icer have done a ton of work to make this happen.

i think its real, icer air is the name of the competition, the airline stuff was jjust hyping it up, and a joke. the competition is defenitely real, it it wasnt, they would run the risk of getting sued bigtime, for using the names of television networks, charities, and athletes

It is however much money in combined prizes... meaning for the riders and probably for the audience too. The icer airlines was a total joke, it is so obvious on the site, but in case you didn't catch above, they trucked snow onto lombard street for a lexus commercial, so I don't see this as unbelieveable. I see it as a goo way for some pros to get hurt, but it shoudl be sick.

im also getting a lot of questions about it from my friends who live in san fransisco who dont really ski and i cant figure out how they are finding out about it, it must be real

Enough already its real!

The huge amount of money put into this event and given away is coming from sponsors from outside the ski industry like Jeep, hiball, and SSX, who have a lot of coin, in addition to companies in the industry. The snow is going to come from huge shredded blocks of ice, similar to how it worked at the summer x games back in the day.

Icer wants to start putting on huge awsome events like these in addition to making wax, and this is the first step and its kind of a test, so the more people that show up, the more likely it will happen again in the future.

That being said, who's coming. I'm coming down from tahoe so if anyone from that area needs a ride, pm me.

1st off Dumont is not hurt anymore from what I heard!!

Also the Icer airlies was a joke becuase the riders will be "flying through the air". Anyway Im in Ohio so I doubt I can mae the long haul but its going to be pretty nutty hopefully it will get some TV time idk how it cant with 100k on the line!!
