Sammy Carlson's YUP .... NOPE

Also curious if the haters have ever climbed and skied an actual "big mountain line" with a natural, uncontrolled, unskied snowpack? Might change how you think a bit.

this is a bad point. it's like saying you can't dislike any music if you haven't written a #1 hit yourself. i think that it's cool and all but like, we've all seen warren miller movies. it's just kind of boring at this point. no one here's denying that it doesn't take skill and i'm sure plenty of us would jump at the chance to do it but it's not like we're seeing something new.

Just watched it on the big screen with the sound cranked... Unreal. The way they shot some of those lines was next level, POV to drone to conventional. You really got to see the steepness and 3 dimensionality of the line. The chute, the spines, the uphill spots, the take off and landing zones. It really gave you an idea of what those lines were like. The use of Ozzy was unexpected and inspired. And like the guy above said, these people bitching have prob never skied an ungroomed surface.

That’s what I’m saying man. I feel like big mountain drone shots often come out weird, and POV almost always sucks. But all the angles, etc they got in this edit are crazy…and then you have the terrain and skiing to match.

Yeah exactly, if you yourself have no musical talent, don’t go publicly talk trash on someone else with talent who made music and published it. Just decide you don’t like it and don’t listen to it….

If you don’t like big mountain skiing don’t watch it.

I’ve seen a cork 7 blunt before, guess what? I wanna see another one.

if you wanted to have a real good time you would go trip face, and watch “Snow Motion” “The skiing outtakes from “Fire and Ice”” ,a loosely plotted movie with skiing…..But you ain’t never gonna find it.

I find it funny that people complain about high end production in ski video. Would you rather have wind noise and silence? I can get behind a SFX being unnecessary here and there, but sound design is pretty important for full immersion into the video, I'd much rather have some extra sounds than no sound at all.

In terms of production your right, there's gotta be an in between tho just doesn't sit right with me listening to fake ski sounds ??

This Tom Wallisch edit uses sound effects and nobody cared.

don't know why you're talking about publicly trash talking, as i'm not doing it. i'm saying that what he did just did not appeal to me.

sfx don't bother me when we're watching the man ski lines that would kill all but a few of us in the blink of an eye

Sammy ever-so-slightly let his arm drop back just a bit in one of those shots. Unreal. I can't believe someone would even release an edit like this. Super shitty. He's washed.

corporate skiing is a threat to the authenticity of the culture.

If you want to watch videos that have more progressive filming, editing, and creative direction in general, then there's plenty of really good amateur content out there. Some might even say we're in a golden age. With projects like this, it's pretty unsurprising that they'll cater to the lowest denominator considering their target audience and how they're trying to appeal to a broad group of people (not necessarily the people who use this forum). I still enjoyed this video because the skiing was dope, even if there were things that I disliked about it. I'm not necessarily a fan of "corporate skiing" but it's good that people like sammy carlson get paid
