Sammy Carlson injury, who has the lowdown?

I honestly think that the big air jump was too small. 80 ft from knuckle to knuckle i mean i can go to breck and hit a better built 80 footer. Sammy and pretty much all the contenders in xgames hit 110 foot kickers when they go big enough to do a triple a dub 16 or whatever. I honestly believe if they had just made a big 100 foot true table instead of that retarded step over Sammy woulda stomped. They need to get Jon Olsson up in that bitch to build a real jump instead of these mainstream xgames degenerates who don't know shit about skiing and the evolution of tricks in the past couple years. Xgames needs to step up their shit and build safe jumps
 
I feel so bad for sammy. I felt my heart just drop in to my stomach when i saw him go down... So unfortunate for one of the most respectable, hardworking, dope skiers of all time... Hope he can recover quick
 
Check his Facebook, he posted it at like 2:30 today I believe. He basically said its bad and he's getting surgery soon
 
Grow up. Sammy got hurt and likely will be out most of the rest of the season, it happens to a lot of athletes (and I too am bummed to see him hurt). The jump was definitely smaller than planned, but imagine what would have happened to Sammy's head on that jump if it was bigger? Athletes will always push the envelope further and further, Sammy just ended up on the wrong side of it last night. It happens. I hope he isn't injured as bad as everyone thinks.
 
From the looks of it, I'd go with an LCL and ACL tear, and a blown meniscus. Possibly a PCL tear as well?

Basically, if that was a full blown knee injury, than I don't know what is. Say goodbye to the rest of Sammy's season.
 
defiantly season ending knee surgery will be needed, with a 6-9 month recovery time , and i feel like he knew it the second he landed

lol at all you little Doogie Howser NS'ers, throwing hail Marys, guessing ACL and possible PCL. And possibly MCL........and maybe LCL. So when the Dx comes out, they call all collectively say "yeah thats what I thought". Its pretty fucking hard. Prob Impossible. To tear your ACL and PCL in one injury. Dont even know why you suggest LCL, pretty unlikely there too. Nerds
 
this i thought was funny. i mean i know i said it looked bad but thats just cause it did, his leg looked like it bent really far back. as to guessing certain ligaments, lol. most of NS is in high school and not doctors. inb4 hate, lets wait for the report. i hope there is one.
 
The injury didn't appear to stress the LCL or the PCL.

Based on the way his knee bended sideways to the outside, his MCL appears to be torn. ACL also could be torn but that's less likely.
 
his leg dipshit, hes won gold at x before and 4 other medals, i think his ego is fine, he is one of the most positive people we have in this sport. very low ego, vibes for quick recov.

I am a registered MD and I can certainly say without a doubt that he broke his collarbone for sure.
 
This is what freestyle skiing has become. You fuck up a little bit, get too much speed, too much spin, and the complexity of the tricks and the size of the airs will basically try to kill you if you are off by a little.
 
Knee injuries happen at very distinct moments, when the knee is stressed and twisted. Anyone who has had a knee injury knows exactly what it looks like and the way his knee moved and the way he reacted, he definitely tore at least one ligament. You don't just give the sign you're done and get help to the side if your knees are fine.
 
I go to Med school in Norway, and I think its funny many of you are trying to come up with a diagnosis based on a videoclip..

What the fuck are you talking about bro? If you saw the video, his knee bends at an angle that can only possibly occur if he has torn his mcl. Thus, it is a fairly reasonable assumption that he has torn his mcl.

Thanks to Everyone for the Support!! Scariest Crash I've ever had.

Just got back from my MRI and no surgery needed! Couple months of Rehab and I will be back at it Harder than Ever!

Take some turns for me, I will miss it!
 
fuck man, Sammy is my favorite skier out there and my stomach flipped when i saw him go down, I, as much as anyone else hope that he can have a quality and speedy recovery. ++++vibes SammyC we love you man.
 
Im hoping that a couple months means he will be skiing again in april. It would be such a bummer if his entire winter was cut short.
