Salt Lake City restaurants

My boss just showed me a new sub place that we just got lunch from. Holy balls it's amazing. It's called Grinders 13 Sub Shop. The south location is better because the old guy who started it works there. Just had an epic sub from him. Worth checking out sometime.

I'm gonna go ahead and bump this thread with some new restaurant suggestions

Koko Kitchen- Japanese

Old Bridge Cafe- Bosnian/Eastern European

Oh Mai- Vietnamese sandwhich

El Viroleno- El Salvadoran

Chunga's- Mexican

Kathmandu- Indian

Chicken Express- good fast food on state street

not sure if it has changed in two years since this thread was made, but red iguana kinda sucks. just about every other place thats been mentioned here is pretty good and worth going to. ill have to get to moochies this winter

Can't believe this hasn't been said - Bombay house is GREAT indian food, definitely not sure which I prefer - Himalayan Kitchen or Bombay. But the cool thing about Bombay is the service is always great, and there's ALWAYS indian families there eating, which says something about authenticity I think. I've been told by people who know Indian families that it's the families' favorite place to go out for a good indian dinner.

I am definitely big on fine food. This is by no means an all inclusive list.
EVA- small plates, lots of options. very good.
LUGANO- best restaurant in SLC hands down. Out in holladay but worth the drive. Mostly italian but not the kind youd expect. fresh, colorful and flavorful
ARISTOS- good greek. gyros, lamb. kebap, period.
MEXICAN CART BY SEARS- self explanatory.

After travelling to Italy, I definitely hold that Lugano is the closest to "real" italian food you're going to get in SLC. I love that place.

This though... Bombay House is my favorite place in SLC.

I didn't really like Himalayan Kitchen when I went there, I thought it was kinda bland..

But definitely go to Bombay houseee it's soooooo good

If you're ever out at the Backcountry.com Retail Store hit up the Taco Cart in the parking lot. $3 burrito that will fill you up. $5 burrito that makes you wish you had gotten the $3 option.

The al pastor is incredible. Tacos are $1 each. She'll fry the cheese and put it on there and it just holds it all together. One of my favorite eateries in the valley.

cause I did for about 2 weeks. I have worked in many other restaurants and this one just doesnt do employment properly.

O'falafel on 2100 s and like 700 e is super underrated and pretty cheap

Also, stoneground does all you can eat gourmet pizza and salad on sunday from 5-9. show up early and pig out. I just found out about this and im definently going again next week. Im not sure on the exact cost but for two people for the whole meal + drinks it was like 30ish.

i thought the same about himalayan, it was also pricey for the small portions.

i'll have to check it out bombay! you guys gotta check out taste of punjab, its in sandy/cottonwood and very dank.

but i will always agree that Lugano is hands down the best restaurant in SLC. its pricey, but its amazing. everything i've had there is very very good. i only go when the rents are in town and covering the bill though. soooo dank

I've heard taste of punjab is awesome, never been. I've only ever had great experiences with Himalayan, it's been great every time i've been there. Must be a hit or miss thing... I've only been there three times.

Went to Eva last night on main street. It was awesome, a little pricey for my budget based on portion size, but definitely worth the price in reality, as the food is great.

I had the Paris pie, the pizza with por, tri-tip bruschetta and spinach gnocci. Only complaint was that the tri-tip was dry.

Eva is great, small plates are the way to go there. Awesome for a date.

Plum Alley: Noodles are all bomb. And the pork belly sliders, Fuckin. A.

Copper Onion: Brunch is bomb, food is bomb.

Finca: Small plates & awesome

Kathmandu: lunch buffet is whats up.

Wing Coop is amazing after skiing the cottonwoods and has .60 wings on thursdays and mondays!

Taco Cart on 800s and State is legit.

Pie Hole on 250s and State is awesome AND open until 2am.

Red Iguana around 750w and North Temple is also pretty good.

definitely best pizza ive had in slc. maybe its cause im drunk every time i eat it but still seems to be the closest to ny style pizza.

Never been to Pie Hole - I like Settebello and Stoneground a lot though.

Eva has good pizza.

Has anyone been to Thai Lotus on 5th? I've never been, drove by the other day and wondered about it.

Also, anyone ever been to Blue Nile Ethiopian? It looks like a hole in the wall... but often times that's where you find the best food.

Food wise Blue Nile is pretty good but the service is unbearably slow. regardless of the poor service i probably would have gone back if it wasn't for the rat or mouse that was scurrying around in the ceiling for the duration of our meal. I'd stick to Mahider which is just a little farther south on state st.

Thai Lotus is probably one of my favorite restaurants downtown, I love it

Some of the best Thai I've had and I've been everywhere hah

Can't believe we've gotten this far into the thread and no one has mentioned Tin Angel. Also, if you're down with vegan food, Vertical Diner and Sage's Cafe are the best in town. Bay Leaf is great right before/right after last call, breakfast all day, southern and Phillipino food. The taco cart in the Sears parking lot is supposedly the best, but the one right outside Bar X is my favortie, mostly because of its proximity to both Bar X and Johnny's. Lots of people have mentioned Pie Hole, and that's pretty much where it's at for pizza. Go between 3-4 pm and you can get two slices and a PBR for under $5. Estes has slightly higher quality pizza, but naturally it also cost more.

Tin Angel is pretty good. I've had some stuff there I wasn't as stoked on, but not in the last year or two, so maybe they've made changes.

The taco cart ON state street at the Sears, Tacos Don Rafa is the best for sure.

Bay leaf is incredible. Get the Big Bubba and try the fried pickles.

Elle, thanks I'll have to try Thai Lotus.

Taco cart 800s and state- 3 dollars for a massive burritos or quesadilla.

The poplar -35cent wings on mondays

Hectors on 3300 south near rei- great Mexican variety, large portions and a fair price.

got to know the cheap pc food scene pretty well theres a few staples:

davanza's - has it high's and it's low's. personally think the junction once is better

chubasco's - yeeeeeeah. every type of salsa ever and good authentic mexican

terryaki grill - really good chicken terryaki, I think it might be healthy too this place was my jam.

O'shucks has decent specials especially burger night.

szcheuan (sp?) has decent lunch specials and is decent chinese food even though theres no good chinese food in utah.

those were the good cheap deals i found other than the chains. there's some good food if you have the coin but if you're broke your confined to a few options

^ All of that is on point.

I did not read most of the thread, but if anyone needs restaurant reviews in PC, of nice places, let me know. I have been to pretty much everywhere a few times and can give you a good idea of what to expect.

Bruge's. Little take out place that makes really good fresh cut fries and authentic waffles etc. Just watch the Man vs. Food Salt Lake City
