Salomon Z10 binding compatability question

I'm sure this is a complete "n00b" question, but living 150 miles away from the nearest ski store, I figured this is about the only place that I could ask.

I just recieved a pair of Salomon Z10 TI bindings. While comparing them to my Z12 TIs, I realized that there is a strange bracket on the bottom of the Z10s that my Z12s lack. I'll post some pictures so you can see what I means...

As you can see, the brackets protrude out the bottom of the bindings, so they will not mount flush to the ski surface. I thought about simply removing the metal bracket, but, if I do so, there will still be plastic pieces protruding out. Is there a certain type of bracket that these bindings fit into? It appears as though these bindings would be lifted quite a bit off the surface of the ski, which I definitely do not want.

Thanks in advance.

they are probably meant to go on a track like mine. just put them on the track and keep the risers. it doesnt make a noticable difference.

The metal plate does indeed unscrew and pop off... but the plastic on top of it is molded around the plate. There's no flat surface on which to mount the skis... that I've figured out yet, at least.
