i have the oppurtunity to get some of those orange x wave 10's for cheap...i heard theye great for bc but how will they handle in the park?

haha NOOOOO. Those are racing styled boots my friend with a flex of 120, the stiffest possible. These are NOT what you want for freeride
 
i was looking into salomon boots too and the x wave 10 was way to stiff for freeriding....try and find a good deal on salomon pro models if you like the fit of salomon boots..they have a lot more flex and also have shock absorbing soles....they are a little pricy though...last years models usually go for 350-400 bucks...
 
this years xwave 10 freeride boots do also have the shock absorbing foot bed like the foilboot and the promodel. The flex on the Xwave 10 is 110 and it has an adjustable canting system which allows them to flex at 100. they are fucken sick for freeride if your a heavier guy. like 175 plus. any lighter go for the promodel.
 
i agree ebay is the way to go with a lot of stuff...they never had my size so i was pretty much screwed....i got them for 320 at an online shop so i didnt do too bad....by the way...my comment about the x waves was referring to last years...i dont know what this years are like
 
110 is not that stiff...why this whole movement to soft boots...do they help on rails or something....if grabs are a problem become more flexible
 
I was going to sell my rossi soft 2's, and just wear my flexon comps. But I put one on each foot, and softs were so much more comfortable. I'm sure I'll be able to balance better with the softs.
 
I've got the xwave 8s as well. They are really nice. If i were any smaller though, i would even want a softer boot. If you can get a pair of the xwave10s for REALLY cheep, then look into cutting them to soften them up. Just make sure that you drill the ends of your cuts so they don't follow. Too stiff of a boot sucks, but so does a boot that is too soft. Get someone who knows what they are doing to help you and make small changes at a time.

....my recomendation is to just get the right boot from the start.
 
if you have the new xave 10 freeride there is two bolts on the outside of each boot, if you screw the back one out it lowers the flew to 100. so basically your getting a park and freeride boot in one. it explains it with a little booklet with the boot as well.
 
nevermind, i found the canting bolt. i lost the little book. now do i turn it clockwise or counter to make it LESS stiff?
 
The xwave 10's are a wicked boot but like many other posters have said they may be a bit stiff if you are just jibbing - but other then that they are perfect.

If you take you boots to a real boot fitters type of shops they can show you how to soften a boot...

But if you are shopping for boots there are 2 boots I recomment.

The 1080 boot is the best park and pipe boot on the market reasonable price as well. The foot has a flex of 80 and a shock absorbing footbed. New for this year is custom fit tong. sick.

Promodel is the next best. Full custom pit liners, the whole line! And a custom fit footbed as well by Conformable. With shock abs footbeds. Flex 90. beaut.
 
X Wave 10 boots aren't stiff. Whoever says so needs to eat more Wheaties. Even if they are, a good bootfitter can soften them.
 
correct me if i'm wrong, but canting has nothing to do with stiffness. It adjusts the angle of your foot from your legged. This comes in handy if you are bow-legged and need adjusting to rebalance your edge work. Most upper-end boots have them.
