what ski do you think is better for me??? karma or the foil??

i am 5'9 5'10, 150, ski probably 50/50 or 60 park 40 all mountain, and im from the east...

foil. personally the karma is too wide for the east. i really don't like it for a park ski because its hard to screw around on and butter and stuff like that. the foil although still a little stiff for a true park ski. will let you do more. plus is kills on the mountain too. though i would take karma over foil any day for the mountain

I'm a firm believer the Karma is super dope, and isn't "super stiff".

Without a doubt it's a stiffer twin, but compared to the ski world it's very managable.

If you want stablilty and ridigity and some pop when you flex it, Karma.

I personally know you and don't think you need either of these anyways...not another park ski.

Just a note, everyone seems to assume that the Foil is lighter than most skis based on the fact that it has a foam core.

I recently weighed my Karmas and Foils (before mounting), and the 174 Foil weighed 1781 grammes and the 177 Karma weighed 1747 grammes.

In other words, it's not correct to automatically assume that the Foil is a lighter ski than most.

i ski both.., the kamra RIPS anything at any speed,

The foil is sweet on mellow stuff like blues and cruiser runs.. but not as stable at higher speeds and not as good edge hold on hard stuff

Depending on the size you go with they are def sofer and fun to mess around on but still pretty good as long as your not lookin to rip gs turns down steep stuff

On a calibrated post office set of scales. The fact that the Foil weight I found is very near Salomon's published weight of the Foil is an indication that these figures are correct.

Give it a try yourself - the Foil in 174 is heavier than the Karma in 177. My P3 in 178 came in at 1734 grammes. The Foil was the heaviest of these three...

True - the flexiness makes it kinda feel light and lively. It is a very pleasant ski to ski I find. The Karma feels more solid and sturdy.

For the kid asking the original question, I would say a 174 Foil would be the right choice...

Karma is more all mountain, stiff, big kickers etc. Will last longer too!

Foil is good but poorly made, more of a park ski, better in pipe and for jibbing.

i dont think anyone in this thread ever said that, you got it the wrong way around,

karma is for all around and the foil is for park and jibbing

I think he was asking a question. But I've never rode either ski, my friend (About 150lbs, maybe...5'10") rides the 177 Karma everywhere, from the Peak at Bigsky to the park on the way back to the lodge for lunch, and he raves about them non-stop...they kill it everywhere.

karma is more all mountain and you can hold an edge better on them... u can ski pow and shit with the foil if you want, they would work good in the trees just not as fat and more park oriented

rails it slays it. but the jumps i found it hard to handle. just cuz i'm such a light guy 5' 8" 125lbs

i'd just go foil. there are people out there sayin the foam core sucks but your only 150. you have to freakin rip to break those skis

its not gonna break...its gonna take a serious beating for it to happen. its just they aren't as durable as some skis

i think it would be but its deff got to do with preference like im 5'6 120 and would ride a 176 cause i like a longer ski (my height or taller than me) so its hard to say...but i cant say for sure whats going too be best

i have a 176 thall, but i also have a 170 msp so i dont know im really undicided what the fuck is up with the 174 size, just make it 176 like the rest o the wworld!

ive heard much more positive stuff about the karmas plus they wond freeskiers ski thing. My friend got the foils and the first day he said he didnt like them as much as he thought he would
