How am I supposed to mount these things? Are those plastic little things supposed to detach when I mount the base plates or what?

This should be the way the rails are mounted, with the metal plate on top and the plastic pieces below.

Aight so the plastic pieces and the metal thing are just loose there, not attached to the base plate?

Yep, the position of the rail is determined by the two screws in the back, the screws with the plate and plastic pieces only hold it down on the ski and allow the ski to flex better i guess
