Salomon SPK...

I am thinking about buying the 2008 Salomon SPK. I love the graphics and they look like a sick and great ski but how are they for performance. I am 5'8" and 130 lbs. The sizes they have are 168s and 180s so ill probably go for the 168s. Should I do it or not. Also i would be getting them for $389 which is pretty much half off.

Probably a good ski. It's what Charles Gagnier used. I don't know what the difference between the spk's thrusters and dumonts is. that would be good to know

We need more on how you ski. What skis have you used before? How advanced are you in skiing? Beginner? Intermediate? Expert? Where do you ski? Are you in the park a lot?

park all the time pretty much. Only time im not is on the way there. And im probably high intermediate low expert. I can backflip and cork and stuff and i ski east coast stuff mainly

i have the 07's.. there so sick.. great for park and groomers.. theyre the perfect flex so u can butter around and still have the stiffness to stomp shit.. they clatter a little but its not bad

i thought the salomon skis coming out this year were called suspect, 1080, dumont pro model, and some pow ones i didn't know they were making a new spk.

with what you described i would go with the 180s, especially if you center mount them. it's going to take a little getting used to a bigger ski but you'll enjoy it in the end.

word. I'm about the same height and weight and I wouldn't ski 180's as

my all around or park ski, especially if they were stiff, unless I was

centering them. My skis are 171 for reference. I'd go for 180 if skiing

pow definitely though.

thread was moved as I tried to post so hopefully this works this time..

I assume you are getting them from backcountry outlet? If so use this code for 50% off retail which will knock it down to about 300:

O and go with the 168 you dont weigh much and I think the 180s are a bit too big for you.
