Salomon SPK

07 Salomon will be introducing the new SPK (superpark) boot. It's a jib specific boot and all their pro's have been secretly involved in designing this new product. SPK is from the 1080 crew.

The boots are sick and will improve mobility in jib specific skiing.

They look dope too.

well I am stoked. The only thing I think salomon does well now is make boots. The Promodel is the best all around boot in my opinion, I am hoping they can step up with this new boot

Salomon had to make some sort of reaction to being completely blown out of the water, apparently this is it.

The boot will be $450.

What ever with the blown out of the water bull.... it's lame attitudes like that that piss me off about skiing...

You dis' someone who's helped create this sport. They're totally helping freeskiing. Salomon is continually pushing the freestyle market...US Open, WSSF, Xgames...

Snowboarders love Burton cause Burton is an orriginal..., Meanwhile in the same situation Salomon gets constantly dissed for the same thing.

BTW the Foil kills it, the Gun aka PR is looked as a wicked classic. The Thruster is a top jibber.

i wish some company would blow me outta the water with a cheaper priced boot...

The blown out of the water thing was a fact of sales numbers. I wasn't dissing salomon in anyway when i made that comment. I find their boots to be of good quality, however if your foot fits in a krypton style boot...it is a better boot than anything salomon makes, and does blow salomon out of the water performance wise aswell.

So the original comment i made wasnt about the quality of salomon products, but thank you for giving me a lesson on the history of freeskiing. When your buying something though your not buying history, your buying a current product. So get off the "Salomon started this shit" train and realise what is happening in the present. Dalbello makes a park specific boot that is better than the 1080 for most people, salomon makes a reaction to it. Thats how product evolution works.

but Burton pushes the sport of snowboarding by continually providing the best product in their market. Salomon was satisfied for the last few years making crap foam skis, and bindings that break easily. They didnt improve anything for like 3 years. Burton is coming otu with sick, but cheap, outerwear, and new products like boards that weigh a pound less than any other. Meanwhile, the PR/Gun is the same thing from the last three years, the thruster is still crap. Iw ill give salomon credit on the foil because it is a great idea: a do-everythign ski with great sidecut and medium flex. But stop pretending like Salomon is a hero. I will be the first to say that I buy their boots and have used their bindings and skis. It is their lack of effort. Now, I CAN understand that they already make a zillion dollars, so why make huge changes? that is enough for now...

I wish you had a fucking clue as to how expensive boot manufacturing is. You think they just jack up the prices so that they can make more money? Think again.

I wish you werent so fucking jacked up on yourself to make a sensible comment. I know boots are expensive, im not asking for a 10 dollar boot. It would be nice to see maybe a 200-250 priced boot, something like what the fujative/invaders are to the skis.

while I hate to admit it, Jib_this is correct. I wish boots didnt have to be expensive, that is just the way it is. The fujative and invader can be made cheaply because they have very soft flexes, using weaker and cheaper materials to make the product. If ski boots used weaker and cheaper products than the boots couldn't hold up to the pressures exerted on it and still hold form and give you the support you need.

The new SPK looks sketchy. Obviously Salomon wouldn't put their sponsored riders in a boot that didnt hold up, but it does't look overly solid to me. It appears to have only two buckles, which is strange. I am sure it will sell well, but I am guessing it will only be designed for the lightweight rider in mind, not big fellas like myself (200 lbs). I am intrigued in either case

seeing as salomon comes out with pretty much the exact same stuff year after year, i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this isn't any new thing they are coming out with. it's looks curiously alot like one of their beginner boots they already make with only a couple of buckles. only white.

i doubt they would make a freeride boot the same way construction wise as a beginner boot. i guarntee (sp?) that the spk will have better technology and better materials.

here we are:

My exact thought. 2 buckles, I have to wonder what they're thinking. But if they've found a way to make it work it could be quite comfy... We'll see.

Ryno, seriously, just back out slowly. Once Simon corrects you it's over, he's right, or he wouldn't have said anything. I know you're mad at being called out but... Just don't bother arguing. It won't get you anywhere.

Im not trying to prove him wrong so I see no need to "back out slowly". I;m just stateing my thoughts on what i thought he took the wrong way (thinking im looking for a 100 dollar boot).

That was it.

I love the way they look, but i am more worried about their functionality. Someone said they woudl be $450 though, which is in more expensive than the previous 1080 boots, which makes me hope they are made better
