It's a cammo design for CR and a island design for candide. Comes out sometime in the middle of the winter or when ever salomon finsishes and releases it.

Yes, the salomon 1080 ad with Thovex in it actually features him riding a pocket rocket, but orange. Look at the skis, it's pretty noticeable.

my rep says that sometime next season (or perhaps midseason) wood core 1080s (like cr and candide rode in the xgames) will be available to the public in a limited run. kinda like the AK launcher or something...easy to get, but not EVERYONE stocks them. perhaps the promodels were what he was talking about.

Thats sick but if they put a wood core in there but make it look like spaceframe then they will have to mill the wood and unlike candide or cr you dont get skis for free.

On the other hand if they give it the same topsheet look but change the sidewalls and thicken it up it should be fine.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

I also wonder which way they plan on going with the pro model versions.

Finally salomon is not the type of mid season release company,

 
the salomon rep in my area said they had the same core, the only differencee was that they had a race base

that wood core 1080 you speak of is prolly the 1080 mogal, its coming out of the race room now, so its got that wood core and better base. Its under the salomon lab skis, along with the ak rocket swallow tail, 2v and 3v.

and i dont know what you guys are talking about orange 'rockets, cuz they look like 1080s to me, pocket rockets are wider then that, just look at the width under the binding.

There will be a Salomon 'lab' 1080 coming out sometime this winter. Limited availability, expensive, lower tip and tail, probably different sidecut, cap construction, nothing known about core for sure, at least I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Lab skis come out of Salomon's super tech 'race room', where they also prototype race skis and new stuff that most of us will never see.

^thats what i heard last season from our slam-on tech rep, basicly i think its the version of the 1080 that candide and CR use. limited production, authorized salomon dealer only tipe shit.

i agree with the guy above me, cuz ive seen lots of pics and segments with candide hittin rails and kickers on the pipe ski...but who knows
