I have these bindings and ive had no trouble with them. I use htem for my twins and wanted to know what you guys think about them....ive been getting into backcountry a lot lately and i dont think i would need a new binding with my new skis. but i want to make sure and see wat NS'ers think about this thing..

S914s are a pretty solid binding, i have them on my ak enemies which are backcountry skis and have never had problems with them prereleasing so they should do just fine for backcountry. Other bindings you might want to consider are jesters, i have them on donner parties and while i haven't had many days on them yet am pretty happy with them. Unless your a really burly and incredibly hardcore backcountry skier the s914s will do fine, if you are looking for something more the 916 lab is also a great choice.
 
The s914's are the same garbage as the s912s. They have the fundamental weakness of a plastic baseplate. The s914 Labs and STH14 Labs are good though. (The STH14 non lab has the piece of garbage z12 toe).
 
thanks i mean its the east so cant get to hardcore b-country. but im just thinking cliffs, and glades. but ya im thinking ill just keep them and upgrade next season. this will be i think the 2nd or 3rd season i have them.
 
Personally i think that the 914 is the worst binding ive ever skied. The amount of time my toepiece has come loose or the amount of times ive ejected on a switch landing is endless. I use race bindings, either the P18 or FKS 18 and i know they dont make them anymore but its what i would go with. They wont break and the pivot heal works awesome. You can find them used or i would get the Marker Jester binding.
 
im surprised to see so much hate on the s914, maybe iv just been lucky with mine but iv been pretty content, i loath my z12s on my msps, such shit bindings i just got em because they were real cheap, but i thought the s914s were pretty solid
 
+karma for being old enough to know what the ak enemys even are, let alone still using them. when they first came out, i thought they were the biggest and widest skis ever
 
Unless they are the LAB model, they aren't anything special..plenty of plastic, much like the 912
