Salomon gun, is that an ok ski?

hey

i've got an offer to buy a salomon gun from new, pretty cheap, so i was wondering if its a good ski.

I am gonna use it for BC primary, but a lot of time in the park too as it would be my only ski except my race skis. So is it fat and stiff enough for powder, and is it not too heavy in the park?

My weight is around 68 kg and my height is 171 cm so would a 174 cm ski be the right choice for me?

Oh and what other skis could fit my demands?
 
should be good for all around might want to think foils but guns are way sweeter according to salomons sight there just the gun lab from last year which my friend loved
 
its an updated version of the pocket rocket. amazing in powder. good for style on big booters because theyre so heavy. enough of a twintip for switch park skiing, but not switch pow. if you can get a deal, go for it
 
I loved skiing the old pocket rocket in the park during spring conditions. I am glad to hear that the new guns are stiffer. That was my only complaint about the pocket rocket.
 
As long as you weigh less than 170 and you never go too big that ski should be fine, otherwise go with a wood core, obviously Armada is the best choice.
 
I have the first Gen PRs and if your light the are reall good all mountnain ski in colorado. The dimension are great fro tackling most terrain I see
 
the new gun is heaps heavier than the old pocket rocket

Its got a partial wood core in strips down its construction, so its heaps stiffer, great in powder, but i weigh 165 lbs and i rekon theyre too heavy and too stiff for park, plus theyre 103 at the waist, which i recon is about 15 too wide.

maybe try and demo a pair b4 u buy.

dont let anyone tell you they ski like the pocket rockets - they take a lot more muscle.
 
My buddy has Guns and I've skied them. Light for a fat ski, great in pow, pretty quick edge to edge. Def. light enough to venture in the park with them. I'm 6'2" 180lbs. He has the 174s and they felt a little short for me. Slower quick turns in the trees felt fine but as soon as I picked up the speed, they felt too small. Overall a fun ski.
 
i went to whistler and rented a pair of guns and loved them.. i never went out west not even any other ski resort besides mine in new york and never really had a powder day and i skiied the powder and all the heavy snow in april with ease with the guns.. and im guessing they would be pretty good and park because there so soft but i don't think they are youre primamry ski for just park..but def. overall big mountain and freestyle
