Salomon gun boots--to soft??

sorry posted to many threads asking about boots but i had one more thing to ask before i drop the money. I was going to buy the falcons because of the great fit they had on my skinny legs and feet but Iv decided that the gun is probably a better buy for my style (ski patrol and park and jumps on my off days). They have the same shell and liner as the falcon but the gun has a softer flex and a shock absorbing boot board. Only concern i have now is how soft the gun feels in the store (has a 95 flex).

Has anyone with experience with this boot found it to soft?

Boot stiffness not only is decided by what type of skiing you are doing. Weight, ability level, and most important......preference is what should decide what flex you want. A 200 lb guy is going to be able to flex a much stiffer boot than a 140 lb guy. Some people prefer really stiff and some really soft. If you feel that they are too soft for you, than go with your feeling and go with a stiffer boot. Afterall you are the only one that can tell what you are comfortable with, none of us.

It's all preference as Hertz says pretty well. How much do you way, and i'm guessing you charge reasonably hard? Any Backcountry dropping or what?

If you fit the Falcon Shell, there are 3 boots from Salomon to look at. They are:

The falcon, you know the deal.
The Gun, you know the deal, 95flex.
The Ghost, do you know the deal? 120 flex, 2buckle system as the SPK, basically the freeride version of the SPK. Built around the Falcon shell. Amazing boot, but pricey. I think you can make it 110 too, but not for sure.

Have a look at all three, and if necessary tell us all your vitals and we'll try to input but this is one that really comes down to you and how you prefer a boot to be.

yeah the ghosts have a 110 flex. and keep in mind that you're trying boots on in a warm shop, so when you flex them you're gonna be flexing the plastic alot. once you get outside in the cold, the boots will stiffen up quite a bit, and you'll start working the hinge more. its hard to judge the flex inside, but you can still feel relative between different boots.
