Salomon falling apart?

So how do you take into account that Cody Townsend posted that is bullshit a few posts before that dumbfuck?
 
If I'm not completley mistaken, Simon was dropped because he didn't liked the new Salomon skis, he kept asking for his old cap pro model back, and Salomon wanted him to be involved in new skis design instead.

Now Sammy also leaves to design his own skis...
 
This. Salomon is expanding their ski offer for 12/13. The boot range is actually really strong, and likewise bindings.

Personally, I don't know what is up with their freeski team, but I can only guess they will find new athletes. Salomon is marketing powerhouse (any brand in the industry cannot deny that) and will for sure have new names on their roster.
 
i heard salomon found out skiing is now aerials, so decided to focus on producing for that

OMG I just heard....Atomic is also owned by Amer Sports Corporation. I read on bathroom wall that all their athletes are leaving too. OMG, wait they own Wilson, maybe padraig harrington they golfer is toast too. oh lordy, what will we all do!

i know why one good reason:

all of their products fucking blow and always have and always will, outerwear is meh and boots can be ok, but really they had it comming.
 
They aren't done by any means, but who wants to buy $500 skis and watch them delam and have edges come out in 5 days? On the downturn, and should have been for the past few years.
 
to an extent. i definitely don't consider them to really be back country skiers though. They sled around and build booters and most hit smaller mini golf lines (no hate, thats my favorite thign to watch and ski) but I'd classify them as "newschool or "freestyle" skiers.
 
Dane maybe but windstedt? No he's a big mountain shredder almost exclusively now. Either way I know what you're trying to say. SImilar to why they dropped/didn't resign/he left sammy as he is just as all around (a little more park) oriented than dane.

Fuck it needs to snow, I hate debating this stupid shit.
 
We were all bummed to see Sammy leave, but know he'll crush it at APO. He's always pushing the sport and I personally expect to see big things from him.

Salomon is not pulling the plug on the park/pipe and we will continue to help the entire sport of skiing. We are still heavily invested in our Jib Academy program and will continue to do so.

I'm not going to speculate whether or not Salomon is falling apart, I really doubt they are. Their team is just getting shuffled, out riders moving on, new riders are going to be coming in. If they are somehow do fall through on the production of freestyle skis (I doubt it, they pioneered our sport, why pull out?), they'll still have amazing bindings and boots that are used in the whole entire aspect of the sport (all mountain, big mountain, carving).

Their park and pipe team might be missing the big guns, but I've noticed in the past couple seasons that they have put so much R&D into powder and big mountain.

Look at the Rocker2, Quest series(let's avoid the quality issues of last year), or their new Guardian binding.

Do you guys really think they're going to go under?

Everyone seems to be too focussed on the Park/Pipe aspect of the company, when that is just a fraction of what the company does.

Salomon won't go under. Just give them a couple months to have new gear come out, along with a new team.
 
I like how everyone [posting in this thread] completely ignored Cody Townsend's post giving his inside scoop.

The team is still pretty stacked, plus they have Jib Academy and get involved with movies, in addition to freeskiTV. They aren't going anywhere for a while.

That said, I support the little guys making more bomber gear.
 
i have to agree with this i have soloman skis (suspects) the edges broke after 1 southern hemisphere season pretty shit if you ask me .also got some of their boots that suck balls.Guess my next skiis will be atomic or line we will see

 
Its a shame that all of those very good athletes have left but it should be intresting not seeing salomon domintating the podiums this year (apart from Bobby).

I also saw some comment about Atomic doing the same,i hope they dont and i dont think they will either because of they sinking so much money into the wow doco that they labeled their brand all over it.

Its not going to be the end of the world if their park range is gone.I had a pair of their skiis and they broke wayyyy to quick.Think Line or atomic punks for next skiis

 
They just don't. I don't even ride them as of this season, but I've never had a problem with any of the many pairs of EP models I've had. The way they ride might not fit you, but that doesn't make them bad skis.

Salomon will be fine as a corporation, but I wouldn't be sad to see them pull out of the park game and reconsider their approach for a while. There are conflicting inside rumours and denials so we'll have to see. If Bobby were to leave, that'd be a good indication...
 
do you work at a shop? sounds like your on the reps flow. all reps have a budget for flow to give away to shop workers etc which in return usually increases sales for them. anyone else from salomon has probably never heard your name. dont want to sound like a dick but waiting for a pro deal from your local rep is gonna keep you waiting a long time. It's good to put on your ski resume though. Salomon also dropped their whole racing program the year the suspect came out. dropping all there racers and production of race skis (atomic also stepped up there racing program that year....but if you talk to atomics boot developer on here there companies and products arent affliated at all...LOL) I cant see them doin that to there freeski program. I can see them dropping athletes and revamping the team eventually, and focusing more on backcountry, that all makes perfect sense. But salomon will always have a park ski in there line up and always have a park skier on there team. If you were salomon do think paying dumont top dollars, or the next underground quebec kid a 1/4 of the salary makes a big difference to there image? I thinks thats where there at.

Actually I'm usually on neither when there is fucking snow on the ground.
 
thats probably why they host jib academy. they want young blood thats going to be ready for the olympics. they'll find and then train them.

also, if you go to salomonfreeski.com and try and get to the park and pipe skis, it says there are none. lol.
