Salomon Boots

What do you guys think would be better for park and pow skiing. Salomon X-Wave 9 or the Crossmax 10. I can get a super deal on either one. Just wondering what would be a better boot?

i would get the x-wave of the two, but if you are going to get the x-wave you mine as well get the 1080 boot. same boot but with shock absorting sole.

get the 9's and pull the rivits then you'll have a ten eighty boot.... they are right behind the hinge and have a allen head unsrew and remove then pull out your liner and take out the t nut. and you'll have a 1080 boot at your special price u're able to get...

I think the xwaves are more freestyle oriented.

the shock absorbing sole doesn't do shit. it's just a gimmick to get you to buy their shit. the 1080 and x-wave are made in the same plastic mold, so you're right about it being the same boot. one thing about the x-wave though is they have good liners compared to the 1080s. bottom line is get the x-waves.

Hey guys just because it is in the same mold does not mean it is the same boot. Porsche and VW share the same frame, does that mean that my VW will do 150 with out hitting the gas? The 1080 boot is much like the XWave 7 when it comes to flex. As far as the better boot between the 9 and 10, I like the 9 because it does have a little nicer flex than the 10 for freeriding. The 10 is great if you want to go balls out every run, but the 9 which has a flex of 100 (by Salomon standards) is the more all around boot. The 1080 boot does not ski anything like the XWave 9 which a has a superior liner and stiffer flex.

i didn't know the flex was different between the x-wave 9's and 10's. what do you know about the 8's? that's what i'm sportin.

Flex on an 8 is 85, 9 is 100, 10 is 110 and the Pro Model is 95. The 8 is 2 steps up in liner and 1 in flex from the 1080 boot. Great boot, had a pair for 2 years when they first came out.

Flex between the 9 and the 10 are pretty close. The X-wave 10 and Crossmax 10 are exactly the same BTW. Remove the screws on the 10 and there won't be much difference. Either will be a better all-mountain boot that the 1080.
