Salomon 420s

I just picked up a pair of Salomon 1080s I think. Instead of saying 'ten eighty' they say 'four twenty' They were only $350 because of the graphic. Does any one know the story behind this stoner inspired renaming. And if there are any other changes to the ski.

ps. I know they come with an all black base instead of the clear graphical base.

 
i bet they say 720, and you were too stoned to notice.

I just also realized the graphics on these are identicle on each ski, where as the regular ten eighties flip flop. I got them with the plastic still on so, no I didn't grab ones that arn't suposed to go together.

i saw tose at sports authority and i was like wtf. they all look just like the 171 1080 except the bases are all black. they have a full twin tip like the 1080's.

I'll drive it untill the wheels fall off, then I'll buy new wheels!

they're also the same graphic/color in all the different lengths.....i noticed some at garts a couple months ago and i was gonna post something but then forgot about it

i talked with a rep about those. because i have scratches that are white and blue not blue and white. salomon gave sportmart and gart these 'special' ones but there isnt anything different but the 420 and the colors.

they have thoes at a garts sports where i live, they look excatly like the 1080's so i dont know y they r called 420's, they might have a different core then the 1080's or something

 
Four- twenty name, black bases as opposed to the yellow-green salomon bases, same side graphics instead of switching. I'd say put them in a time capsule and 50 years from now sell them to some guy your age who used to freeski; hell pay like $5000 because they are unique.

yeah, i got them at sniagrab for like 275, and put 810ti bindings on them and rode them this weekend and they worked great. there sweete to because they say 420 on them.

I think companies should mess up on graphics on purpose. Then they could be RARE skis like shoes or something. Then we'd have a HUGE COLLECTION! Oh man it'd be like beanie babies.

some people are retarded...if this is true,its obviously the menufacturers fault,its not a different ski...same thing as the 1080 just a little missprint...they should have made a huge ass fucking pot leaf on it too

Hahahaha. My friend was telling me about the new '1080s' he just bought, then later I saw him at a ski resort and then I'm like 'Dude, those aren't 1080s. the base is all black and the graphic is identical on both skis.' then he looked blankly at me for a sec, then he said,' Fuck dude.'
