Salomon 1080 vs. 720

I was in the shop today flexing skis again...and was talking to the salomon rep about the 720's. (I'm talking about the '05's)

I currently ride 1080's. And to tell you the truth I really couldnt feel any difference between the two while flexing them. The both seem to have the same stiffness...and the dimensions are EXACTLY the same.

The shop is so fucked up...they're actually selling them at the same price too.

The camo graphic looks pretty cool.

Any thoughts comments? (I know they "supposedly" suck)

Has any one ridden them?

The biggest differences are in features. In terms of flex and sidecut they're virtually the same. I don't know what the new 1080s weigh, but the 720 is lighter than the old 1080s. If you ski on 1080s now I'd stick with them. The 720 is bette if you're still learning like me. The problem is they didn't make a new model for 06

what are they sacrificing to give up the weight? If they were the exact same ski, but lighter...they'd be more expensive wouldnt they? My impression was that they're supposed to be cheaper.

With all the talk about other skis coming apart I'm gld I did. I haven't heard any of that happening to salomans

Seriously Salomon has making skis down pack.... where as the new independant skis are still learning. Salomon is just as good as anything out there.....sorry but that is the truth.

Salomon is overrated nowadays... They were really cool about 4 years ago when they were still making new types of skis, but now, due to the horrible way addidas used them (basicly they bought the company and didnt do anything with them. they just put new graphics on the same ski every year instead of making the skis any differnt. or at least developing new skis..) Now there is a new owner. hopefully they will make the company much much better. put some R&D in their skis and get some new technology on the slopes instead of the 2002 shit that they have right now.

they are alright, i cant complain about my 1080's too much except i wish i mounted them a little further forward

ya adidas has nothing to do the salomon 1080 ski. it doesnt matter if they bought them out or not u fucking tard. and yes salomon changes their skis. the new 1080s are amazing. lightest effing ski on the market(is\f u got the 912 binding)ya. dont believe. put a pair on. u can bairly feel them. they are toughest on rails and when they clash together ive rode mine for 25 days at the park and still amazzzziinnnggg condition.! so go eff urself whoever said dont buy salomon.

ya

thats because the new company made them way better you freakin dingleberry...

i meant that Addidas didnt invest much in the company and milked them for what they were worth. They put some r&d into them here and there, but nothing compared to the R&D that Rossi, Armada, and 4frnt have put into thier skis.

also, addidas didnt put hardly anything into Salomon ski boots...

They do okay, and they get the job done, they just dont compare to anything that Nordica/Lange/Technica have.
