Moved to Montreal this year (mcgill) and I'm looking to get a seasons pass somewhere. Don't really know too much about either. Any advice?
ps. is there a shuttle bus of any sort going to either?

Never been to Bromont, but Avila has killer rails. Perfect lengths, well set-up. Jumps are pretty good too and the halfpipe ain't to bad in the spring. Join the Avila Cult they bought some new features for this year like a 30ft down rail and an up-down rail check them out on there.

Find Mcgill freestyle on Facebook and message either me (Adrien) or Dave.
I know we're gonna be a couple grabing our night pass at bromont and going during the week. We'll let you know everytime we're going there and if we have any extra spots left. We can also rent a van if there's enough people willing to pitch in.
But yeah find Mcgill Freestyle on facebook and message me (Adrien again) if you want to buy your season's pass at bromont since they have a deal if we're a group of 8 or more (we're already more than 8). So your night pass would cost you 100$ +tx.
See ya out there

i ski bromont and its fun, but honestly, if youre skiing mostly park, go to avila. Bromont's park is always falling apart

Ive been skiing avila for the past 5 years i think. Great park, solid rails, jumps are usually kept pretty well and they groom it everyday during the winter months at 5pm before night skiing. The only problems ive had with avila is that it gets overcrowded, making conditions a bit sketchy, but honestly its rarely ever a big issue. I find bromont is a nice change because its not as crowded and a change of atmosphere, but avila for sure has a better park.

If you're between the ages of 6 and 25, get the Big pass.

It's 300$+tx before dec 1st (333$ reg. price) , and you can get this at Mont Saint-Sauveur.

This pass grants you all time access to 6 mountains: Mont Saint-Sauveur, Avila, Mont-Gabriel, Mont-Olympia, Morin-heights, and Edelweiss. I mostly buy it just for Mont Saint-Sauveur and Avila. But it's nice to know that if you ever want a change, you can go to the other hills no problem.

It's too bad that MSSI lost jay peak, because the Big Pass was once good for Jay Peak too.

That would be my opinion. Plus Mont Saint-Sauveur is like 45 minutes away from downtown Montreal. And The other hills are all in that area, + or - 10 minutes (except for Edelweiss which is way further, somewhere around Hull i think).

well bromont is huge, they have like 100+ trails. so when there is a pow day, you can easily find a good spot

threads. i bought my pass for bromont this year. there park is usually pretty good. never been to alvila but ive seen edits and it looks better for a park. but bromont does have some sick features.

its so stupid that they dont have jay in the big pass anymore. but if i had the choice i would pick avila over bromont for the park. yes bromont has more trails but they are over rated. and bromonts tends to get more packed with people

I am a third year student at McGill and have had some really sick seasons so far and you will too. Montreal has access to some amazing skiing - but it gets really fucking cold.
So here is the deal at McGill and what you can find:
Jay Peak - located about 15 minutes inside the US border - about 2 hrs (maybe a little more because the roads suck) from McGill. They used to run a bus every Saturday and Sunday from Roddick gates (Sherbrooke + McGill college) for $20 return for the day. It was amazing, butt hey cancelled it last year which sucked a lot. If you can get to Jay I highly recommend it. Hit it on a powder day and you will have the day of your life - deep snow, great trees and absolutely no life lines. It's a completely locals' only mountain. The park really sucks if that's what you are after - two "parks", one with a mini jump line and around 4 rails/boxes, and another with a bigger jump line and stupidly big rails that no-one hits. The parks are fun to fuck around with on the way down, but don't expect to go there for the day and do park laps. It's a sick mountain and they get soo much snow. Bought a season pass for $300...
Last year I made the switch to Tremblant. Season pass is $280 or something. My buddies and I rented a car each week and drove out there - there is a bus, but it takes about 3 hrs (opposed to an easy 1hr 45minute drive in the car from Mtl) and it is super expensive - worth it if you are staying the night up in Tremblant though.Overall I was hugely disappointed with Tremblant. Touristy, massive lines, WAY overpriced and just a huge commercial resort. It's one of those resorts where you have to pay for a "park pass" - comlete bullshit. They don't really get that much snow, and if they do they just groom it all out because it is basically a beginners' mountain. All the runs are the same - completely groomed and VERY EASY. If you do manage to hit it on a pow day, check out the "edge " lift, has some of the only good tree skiing I found on the mountain - it is a super fun lift and much less crowded. The parks, on the other hand, are pretty great - definitely a mountain you can hit up to session park all day. Lifts allow you to make fast park laps (besides the massive lines for the lift).
This year I am definitely not hitting up Tremblant - way too boring of a mountain and WAY too expensive.I recommend joining the Snowboard Club (not just for snowboarding, so many skiers too). YOu pay $100 for membership and then only 25-35$ per week, including bus and lift ticket! no hassle or risk or driving up, and we hit up a different mountain every week - including some in the US including Stowe and Jay, along with all over Quebec. It's a much better deal and less hassle - you can also bring guests, and they do not pay much at all. They go every Saturday. Leave very early.
As A.G. mentioned above, you can also join the McGill Freestyle club - a park club that makes trips to Bromont (I think?) in the week?
So yeah, many options for you. If you put the money and time in, you will have a SICK season and few years skiing at McGill. Also, Mt. Royale is a graet place to go when it snows - my buddies and I occasionally build a kicker or something and go at night - so fun... always get super fucked up and hit jumps. Or taboozing... always a good time.
Send me a message if you want any more info or want to ski this season or something

If you want park, come to avila. If you want to ski some runs, go to bromont. If you're going to avila PM me, I'm usually there friday/saturday/sunday.
