Sage may have sold out

i don't know if it's been posted, but has anyone else seen the nissan X-terra commercial with sage catabriga-alosa. I am pretty sure that is the first skier to be in a car add. this could be good or bad for our progression or whatever, but i'm just putting it out there
 
i wouldnt say thats sold out, jeep sponsors tgr movies, and nissan sponsors the warren miller movies, its all buisness.
 
he may have but he is the chillest person in skiing and whats wrong with making some money and making skiing a bigger industry so there is more money and bigger comps its all good
 
its a wicked good sign for us that they showed his name, it means they think that sage actually can be marketed, its good
 
how is that selling out? he is doing what he does. skiing. this is why ns is bull shit sometimes
 
If he drove up in an x-terra, stepped out, told the camera skiing sucks, and drove away giving us a glimpse of his trunk being full of figure skates and fancy shampoo, then he may have sold out.
 
def progression whole thing were looking for is to recognized like snowbaoridng while not being a poser sport like snowbaroding

Selling out is when something completely 100 percent changes for the worst. Limp Bizkit maybe?
 
he didnt sell out cause they dont mention his name or anything. only skiers from this site would recognize that thats him.
 
even if it did mention his name, he is makin bank, i would for sure be doin the same thing. i hate when people bitch about sellin out cause you know damn well you would do that very same thing. money is king bitches!
 
jeep and skiing go together, they put on alot of ski things sure they are racing but its still skiing
 
Sage is still a humble guy so just cuz he is doind car commercials doesnt neccesarily mean he sold out but wuteva
 
Fuck if I was sage and jeep asked me to do a commercial I would do it in a second, and every single on of you would too and if you wouldnt your stupid little boys
 
just a little FYI, that commerical not only features sage but it was filmed by the TGR crew

oh and it has been out for at least six months and it is great publicity for the sport

but... i want to know why Armada hasnt done any advertising/marketing with the Nissan Armada. i think it would be cool.
 
yeah theres a article about it in the powder from a month ago and i def dont think it says sages name in the commercial idk where you guys are getting that from
 
Funny part is its not even sage in part of that comercial, kids name was Troy Murdough . There was an article about it in the sept 2005 "Powder", page 44 for anyone that wanted to read about it.
 
its cause the guy, if its not sage, looks almost exactally like sage. and im pretty sure i started something like this a couple of weeks back. o well.
 
And the guy actualy doesnt look anything like sage other than the fact he is male. Its irrelevant though because all the shots that they would have used of troy would be fairly long distance stuff.
 
Nah it is sage, but i don't he sold out because of the fact that they don't throw his name out at everymoment, nor is he there saying" Nissan makes me ski good." He skis alot for warren miller, and nissan sponcers Warren Miller productions. They just took some footage from a film. Plus this is the least sell out skier out there. Chads gap took him from dishwasher, to pro.
 
And now that i reread the article i realise that it ends with "none of his shots made the final cut" so i am a dumbass for even bringing him up.
 
yea that commercial is awesome for skiing. people see him drop in on that steep ass face then throw a nice 3 of a cliff, i love it actually shows that mainstream media and culture are starting to use newschool sking as a marketing technique aka they think its hot right now and people will relate and in turn wanna buy their product that last thing doesnt make sense to me but still this is a huge step for skiing, much bigger then ssx4 and that stupid skiing part
 
^ Yeah for sure. Any day a skier whos not JM does anything "newschool" related on tv is a good day.

And Sage is just a pimp so that helps.
 
Mosely sold out because he used his position to get himself a spot on MTV and all that type of shit, but shits all over the ski world by basically ignoring the fact that if it weren't for skiing, he wouldn't be anything. Sage and his sponsors realized they had a good opportunity to promote skiing in a badass way and they took it. all you see is Sage ripping shit up and smiling his ass off. when you see Mosely, he's sucking every dick at MTV. Mosely did a lot for the exposure of freeskiing, but after it made him famous, he practically turned his back on it and tried to use the image to make as much money as possible for him. Sage is about as far from a sellout as they come.
 
oh yes, truth spoken. selling out would be like appearing on the surreal life, which i'm sure jonny mosely is lining up as we speak.
 
before anyone takes it the wrong way, let me clarify- when i said you see Sage "smiling his ass off", i wasn't trying to be insulting. the fact that he is always smiling is awesome- he must be the most stoked person in the sport. just thought that sounded a little harsh, so i'd explain myself.
 
I see no problem with it. He rips. He seems cool. What's the problem? He's not sacrificing his skiing credibility by being the commercia.
 
he has like not even a millasecond on there...who cares. I hope he got paid what that millasecond is worth to them...which in all likely hood he didn't. your gay
 
no selling out at all. it dont affect progression at all and it barely puts us on the radar of other huge companies. who cares about it
