Safe Jumping 101

Hey, i have created a tool that can help people land on the transition of every jump that they hit. I cant reveal what it is yet because i dont want some fool to take all the credit for my invention and make millions...

It is important for me to find out if anyone in here would be interested in this new invention and would you support it if it really did work. This toll will help people all over the world and it will save bones and it will also save lives. How often have you overshot a jump because you have misjudged your speed and the size of the jump... WEll this invention will help you...please post follow-up saying what you think about this... i need it for my marketing class.

Well, you have to tell us how you think your product will help people out before people will be interested in it. Tell us what it does?

-d

probably lijke one of those bike speedometers that calculates approximate transition of the jump and length then will probably tell you how fast you should possible be going.

J

one of those things would be really hard to make cause u'd have to factor in the length of the jump-the degree incline slope of it and decline of the landing~wind speed which is always changing-speed of the person hitting the jump-how much that person weighs-type of snow ur jumping on-so basically it would have to incorporate a helluvalotta stuff

All I do i just straight air a jump if I haven't been in the park lately and that works good.

i woudlnt be interested. thats is part of the skill. thats putting to much technology on the hill. part of the fun of learning how to do different tricks and going bigger is the risks you take. would it really be that much fun if you had it all calculated out? but im sure you would make some money off it selling it to some kids.

#1 Key to safe jumping.... DONT FALL!!!!!

'what the fuck you mean is he fuckin dead? the nigga layin there wid all types of fuckin blood comin out his head'

If it's a way to measure you're speed (like a little wheel on your skis) that would be cool.

But it has been thought of, and it would just break.

Think of the amount of abuse that happens... your product would have to be really strong.

And if it's a distance calculator, then it's already been posted on the site.

But fuck, if you could make it work, I'd buy it. I hate going too big.

Why can't we all just get along?

yea there is just no way you could make that though youd have to base it off of, your skis condition, the snow condition, how fast the winds blowing. the angle of the transition, and the angle of the landing, and how hard you pop off the lip, your speed giong into it. There are just to many factors, you cnat be serious about making that.

Yeah if it would work and not be too fancy I would be interested, but I don't think that is possible, no matter what you do there are always risks. Something could fail. We might just be better off learning safe jumping the hard, oldfashioned way. But go and try to develop it, if it works I would be amazed and I am really excited to see how this product works!

we could always just make all the jumps the same size, angle of take off and landing, hight, etc... than have the same angle for inrun on every jump. figure out where you gotta start from to go straight at the jump and make it to the landing than put a little flag there... that way we'd know where to start from every time... oh, and lets chop up the landing to make it nice and soft for when we do crash.

oh wait - i just described ariels... opps.

Having something that makes sure you make it to the landing everytime would take the risk out of it... I mean sure, sometimes you get fed when you overshoot/undershoot a jump, but hitting the jump and trying a sick trick in the first place is what separates the men from the boys.

unless the skier hits a jump exaxtly the same way every time there is just too many factors to take in. If it works sweet, but I don't see how it would. there is just too much going on. eg snow conditions, ski wax, how much the person jumps, wind, even how a person rides their skis affects speed. good luck with your product though

we build a step down an u gotta fly over a 100 feet to land flat so just take the risk. thats part of NS skiing your gonna fall an if your not, then your not gettin better

Is it cheating if the girl is from another country?

Some one please help !!!

yeah, i love taking risks, i dont even know if i would use it if it was there, im in this class in highschool right now and we needed to make an invention...im catering to beginners and pussies that dont want to fly. It wouldnt be a tool that you attach to your ski. It would be a system that the ski hill owns and it stays on the hill.

not some cheap piece that attaches to your boot, lol, it would be permanent. there are no factors about snow speed...speed is speed. too fast or too slow, 30mph on sticky snow isnt any slower than 30mph on fast snow...as with the wind....30mph into the wind isnt any different than 30mph with the wind at your back!

k, just answer me this.... if there was a product that would make jumps safer and perhaps even save your life or knees one day...would you be interested? yes or no?

YES OR NO! YES OR NO? YES OR NO! YES OR NO?

No. Skiing wouldnt be fun if there wasnt a risk factor involved. Besides that point, some of the falls are really entertaining to watch, and i wouldnt want to see those ever go away...

Maybe for practice jumps it would be good...you would know you were gonna hit tranny no matter what, so at least you would have more balls to try what you want in the air....kinda like water ramps, but the real deal....but that's all I would use a calculated jump for, practice.

Dude there'd still be a risk factor, just because you're going to land on the landing doesn't mean you won't be doing it on your back, haha. I'm sure if you asked that guy at superpark 4 who shattered his ankles when he came up short on the 100 foot stepdown if he'd like a tool like that, he'd say yea.

well why dont u tell us what it is? i am starting to believe that you are making shit up.

who cares if he's making it up. I personally like the difference in jumps, and the risks involved. It'd take the fun out of jumping, never knowing until you land if you're going to land. Landing on your head and back hurts, but you learn from your mistakes. With an invention like that, it'd make pussies and little kids too good too fast, which we don't want. We want to be the ones who tear up the jumps and do inverts, not a bunch of little kids

*CS*

Skiing is life, and without life, no one would be here. So everyone owes something to skiing.

The risk isn't in making the tranny it's what you try on the way to the tranny that makes the difference.... example straight air VS. Switch D-spin 9.... It's doesn't matter how perfect you land on the downside if you land sideways or upside down. Just because someone can make the distance doesn't mean there good. I'm sure you've all seen that guy that hits the jump and flails throught the air and then miraculously lands on his feet, no style or difficulty but he still made it, but that doesn't make him any good. So i think that the invention would get lots of use. Yes

your guys landings must suck, in jackson the landings are really nice and steep and long. you can go 20ft futher than you were supposed to and still land clean.

i hear ya. if it's in the park i have trouble judging speed and usually overrotate spins becuz of the extra distance.

your invention would not work, what about the different weights of people, if you just measured a speed of 30 mph for a jump it wouldn't work, you have to do alot of stuff with gravitational pull and wind resistance. Some pople wear baggy clothes some don't others wear heavy or light skis, some poele pop of jump different. Making an invention like that is close to impossible. Unless of course your another bill gates who can thank of everything. In that case, when you get rich please write me a note so I can beg you for money.
