Syd Barrett passed away today. One of the original founders of Pink Floyd who was replaced by David Gilmour after being admitted to a psychiatric ward. The cause of death was unknown, but it was probably related to heavy drug use and diabetes. Rest in Peace Syd...

thats a damn shame, i cant help but wonder wht pink floyd would be like today if syd hadnt fried his brain on lsd
 
Not a cool time for hate. Lsd created many mental problems for Syd, but the cause of death was probably what I said.
 
He was a brilliant person, and wasn't understood by others. He was by no description crazy before his heavy use of LSD and other various hallucinogens. He grew up a normal life in Cambridge, England and was born into a fairly well-off family. His problems started becoming obvious when he developed schizophrenia and showed it in public. This was again a result of the hallucinogens he abused regularly.
 
After Syd got replaced by David Gilmour, he came into the studio with a shaved head, a quickly gained 40 lbs., and a bathrobe. He then jumped up and down in front of the monitering window screaming while brushing his teath.

Like I said, this is due to his intense use of drugs. For 30 days straight he was said to have been on acid, not just because of his own intentons, but other people spiked his drinks. Yes, of course he took acid too, but others were giving it to him. Honestly, can you people just drop the fact that he became crazy after his "meltdown". Just give the guy some respect, he was a very talented musician and deserves credit for founding one of the most renowned and influencial bands of all time.
 
then what about someone like timothy leary who did a LOT more acid than him?

Hallucinogens have never been proven to CAUSE mental illnesses. Really, its not possible.
 
who isn't? He's one of the best musicians ever. Just because he went batshit crazy doesn't mean we're disrespecting him. He was fuckin rad, just crazy. But I am glad he went crazy. or else he wouldn't have written those songs...
 
Bullshit. It's so possible that they can. I've seen it happen. It's an individual effect and it's rather obvious it was the cause of Syd's mysterious mental illnesses.
 
Totally agree, isn't it weird we finally agree on something? Sir Holland just wants attention. He just posts stupid things to try and get noticed.
 
dude smokin weed has caused skitsofrenia in kids b4 because there still maturing so u cant arue acid cant cause mental health problems
 
not really...i dont see why u keep saying this....i ACTUALLY think that pink floyd os over rated...but still sad that someone so respected had died.
