Sachtler Ace Question

Want this tripod, but am a bit concerned about the 8lb weight limit. If I was running a 60d or 5d with a light mic, rail system, FF, 24-70 or similar weight lens, and a 5lb slider then I would definately be just under 10 lbs... would the ace handle this sort of set up alright? I can't see myself going any heavier than that, I might have a 70-200 2.8 for the max lens weight, and maybe a motor for the slider but those would only add a couple lbs.

so could the ace handle that?

I mean, if you're using a slider im guessing the smoothness of the head doesn't matter. Thats all the weight limit really means, is for actual use of the tripod. You could probably sit on a platform on top of your tripod and it wouldn't break...

"Payload" refers to optimal weight for performance. Technically your head can take much more, though it won't perform its best.

It means it performs its best within whatever the specified payload is. My Cine DSLR range is .5 - 5kg, meaning it is optimal within that range, but could technically support much more or less.
